With how things are moving I think a qwerty phone Q30 might be a great opportunity for blackberry. With a bigger 3.5-4 inch screen and a design ratio close to the Q10 (I prefer some metal finishings like the porsche design phone) would be a really nice phone (a 3000+ mAh battery and super Amoled screen that's 4:3 rather than the 1:1 of my Q10) I think such a phone might really be a success (and ofcourse the marketing should be better than the one of the Z30)

What do you guys think? Would you buy such a phone? What feature would you add?

I think your right. A Q with an iPhone/Z10 sized screen would be really cool...

Still with the candybar design, after all its what makes BlackBerry's so recognizable.

This is how I hoped for the Q series phones to look like in the first place. Now I'm afraid they will stick to the square screen format which would limit the options for increasing the size of future phones.
However, I would buy a phone with the specs you outlined in a heartbeat...

This would be the BB10 phone I would buy.

Q10 keyboard (maybe even 10% bigger keys if it's going to be a bigger phone overall) with a bigger screen. The screen doesn't even have to be the screen size of a Z10 or anything. Going from 3" to 4" w/ a physical keyboard would earn my money in an instant. I'd buy it outright full retail on launch day.

Even if a 4:3 screen would fit - personally I hope for a 16:9 slider. Was a fan of the 9800/9810 Torch and I'm sure things have improved since then for sure!

4inch screen would be nice, but make it a landscape slider.

Hey yes there can be 2 versions one with a slider (4+ inch) and one with a Q10 feel (max 4 inch for the ergonomic)

A Q30 with 4" screen based on Z30 width (and reduced space on top between screen frame and speaker) would allow to keep a 'pocket sized' device. It would only be 1,5 cm taller than the actual Q10 , smaller than the 14 cm length of the Z30.
How much i'd love to get such a Q30!
I am tempted by the Z30 but i'll stick to my Q10 waiting for its update, ideally coming in a few months...

Well if the bid goes through with Qualcomm we may see a Q30 in the future.

I like the way you think.

As far as I'm concerned, BlackBerry couldn't build a full qwerty phone big enough. I couldn't care less about "the thinnest" of anything. I'd buy a Galaxy Note 3 sized BlackBerry with a qwerty keyboard. The bigger the better.

What does Qualcomm have to do with anything though?

Even if it were only Cerberus and the two co-founders and no Qualcomm, there could still be something like a Q30.. they could always just buy/use Qualcomm's hardware, as they currently do.

Netflix over a 300-baud modem, that would be fun. But you could bang out emails like nobody's business!

Actually the product doesn't matter, marketing does, people barely know bout the q5 etc, we should market the product with a lot of commercials etc.... apple can seel ice cubes to Eskimos and BlackBerry can't even sell food to a starving man!! we need to do it..

A bit of an exaggeration: product does matter, but you're right the fact is Blackberry didn't do anything to show BB10 magic.
In addition to that they didn't take advantage of BB Balance that should go mainstream instead of business only.
When you think of some japanese phones that just sell because they assure a perfect privacy.
The so-called 'cheaters phones' like the Fujitsu F serie, with its stealth privacy features, and i'm talking about phones that are so dated that even BB legacy devices seem very modern in comparison:
Fujitsu’s ‘infidelity phone’ still a hit among Japan’s cheaters - The Japan Daily Press
Blackberry has a lot of attractive features, and BB Balance would be a major one for people eager to separate private phone from business/public phone (when your children/friends use it and you have to peek over their shoulder to see if they are getting to personal stuff...) but they seem to make everything to slow down public adoption.
p.s: there's also an app called CATE (call and text eraser that does the same trick for android and for jailbroken iphone), would like to see that kind of apps on BB world.

lol that's excellent. Can't see a trackpad though?

I stuck with a 9900 as I can not imagine it without a trackpad. My old 9900 went goofy after I dropped it and the trackpad would not track. I hated it every time I had to use the screen.
