Well native Facebook is still working on Passport.
Was it an April fools day joke from Facebook?

I read on one of the tech sites that Facebook backed off on their dropping support for Blackberry OS10, I don't know if that means the API's used for the native app will still work or not? I did read they where going to enhance the web based app to make it a better experience, as far as how long the native OS10 FB app will still continue to work, who knows, for know just keep plugging along until that day comes.

    It true, that's cool.
Like many have said, leave it alone and let it just keep working as is. Just don't put anymore time into updates nor new features.

The native Facebook app also works on my PPSE perfectly in the frame of its limitations. It does all what I need. Face 10 might be somewhat more developed, but somehow I like the native app better.

Fortunately I followed my gut feeling and did not install the last update of FB for BB10! Still confused why it is 24MB large update file while it is basically a link to the mobile website!?

Two things are really important features for me to use the native app. Hub and Messenger integration and contacts including birthdays!

BlackBerry OS10 It ain't over until it's over! White Passport...

IMHO Face10 has a lot of usability issues. For instance, when you click on a notification of a comment in Group pages, it brings you to the top of the page. Not even the post - making you scroll through searching for the point of the notification. Also, try looking at people's albums. First, you select an album, and instead of showing the photos, it shows you ONE photo, and you have to click again to "View Photos". Why? Isn't that why I opened the Album in the first place? Then, once there, you can only open one photo to view, then close it and open the next, close and open next, etc, etc... You can not simply scroll through the photos like the BB native version (and every other fb client). I could go on and on, but I'll leave it at that. I find the app clumsy to use. I did purchase pro version to encourage continued development.

Mostly, like you, I still use the BB native one (which I have not "upgraded") and only turn to alternatives when something fails to load (like a reply to a comment). Also, the HUB integrated messenger is preferable (to me) over any 3rd party alternative - including the sister app of Face10.

For those using Face10, I thought I read that there were massive privacy concerns with the app as it was routing data through the developers servers and other points. Is this true?

I believe if you reinstall your OS, the old version of Facebook should come with.

"Working fine" - if you mean missing some key functionality then yeah, I guess that's fine.

Not being able to see replies to comments caused me to bail on the native app a long time ago.

I only use it for contact and calendar synchronization at this point, so for me it works great. I use Face10 an Messenger for my Facebook experience.

Define "fine". Has native Facebook ever worked fine? It's always been a big hot mess in my opinion

You can use the contact integration again when you go to settings/accounts and add new account. Choose Facebook and login. But don't use the "new" facebook app again.

I got the old app back by reinstalling beta zone and installing the last beta. It's from April 2015 but is the old app. So far so good
