Can't understand the need for a charging dock for the passport, that battery never die!!

As for the holster, one word: FINALLY!! I was tired of all the ugly custom cases/pouch that everybody was trying to sell.

This may be kinda pretentious sounding, but I am not really impressed with that charging dock either... I mean, it is of the old style (Tour style dock) where you have to line up the contacts in order to charge it, and in the process often scratch up the bottom of the phone...

I was hoping they would have incorporated the same charging tech that was on the 9900 since it also had a stainless steel fret (and yes, I know that the 9900 had charging contacts). Oh well, I guess that tech will probably come on the next innovative qwerty phone. I will still buy the dock of course...

The only reason I could think of was that it would be available for Christmas and a 2015 AT&T release.
I'm happy that it has come and it looks real good. The dock is a dock, put the phone in and charge it up. How it looks won't be too much of a problem. It's just gonna get covered with papers.

I suspect that BlackBerry wanted to be sure the device was a success before putting resources toward the dock, etc.

Just to let you know...no it does not accommodate your hard shell or any type of cover on the passport.
You can remove the edge, which reveals the micro usb. However you can't balance the phone on just that as it will break.
The dock comes in two varients, passport and classic.

Also no other connector except usb.
You may plug a slimport adaptor on the end and then charging cable if you wish.
I initially thought it would have mini hdmi or big hdmi and aux output. But nada.
