My experience getting a BB Passport in Ottawa
Good day all,
I'd like first to apologize for my bad English as I am french speaking trying my best to write proper English.
I live in Ottawa and have been waiting patiently until October 1rst to get my Passport at a Bell store as I am already under contract with them.
After seeing the Passport at the Telus store at the Rideau Center for a few days, I knew the device was exactly what I was looking for : an upfront larger text area without the need to "rotate" my device. It may sound weird, but it has always bugged me that necessity to switch my device around.
So, today, October 1rst, was supposed to be the launch day for the other Canadian carrier (namely Bell and Rogers) after the first 6 days of Telus exclusivity.
At lunch time, I walk to the Bell store within Rideau center and met that salesperson : "sorry, but we don't have any Passport as it hasn't been lunched yet" ... I said "sorry, but Telus has been selling it since the launch day, 6 days ago".
So, he asked an other employee who answered "we may get some later today". Later today, still no Passport and "we are sorry" as an answer. As I call Bell directly, I'm answered "We are sorry, there seem to be a problem with our inventory system, no Passport will be available for the next few days, maybe a week" ...
And it seems Rogers wasn't any better.
That was enough, I transfered my phone to Telus.
I'm strongly canadien and I cannot tolerated that lack of respect to both a canadian company and any Customer wherever country you live in.
BRAVO to Telus for really showing support to BlackBerry. In the Rideau Center store, the Passport was in display right in the middle of the store where everyone could see it, the employees knew about the device and were happy to have it and sell one to me.
I am not a Telus representative, but if you have a choice to make, well support a company who shows real support to BlackBerry.
By the way, it is a splendid device. Thus far, wow! The keyboard is something to get accustomed to as it is not like any other (I have been with a Z10 since launch day, so I forgot a bit the feel of a physical keyboard). It's capacitive capability is impressive and when you understand how it works, just wow! And not seeing half of my screen display to disapear when typing, I forgot how pleasing that was.
BlackBerry Blend is great, thought it seems I have a small bug as my BBM doesnt seems to synchronize (say to restart Blend which I did to no use). Only bug, maybe I've done something wrong.
Dont forget to use the "Device Switch" in BlackBerry World to transfer your data from any phone (IPhone, Android, legacy BB or BB10) (both devices need it to link together and transfer the data).
As I am still Learning about it, I won't say more for now.
In hope this could help some people.
