Yesterday afternoon my Passport would would completely shut off for absolutely no reason while left untouched with screen facing up. Then this morning it started a reboot/restart on its own. This has happened a handful of times. What is causing this? Please help. Thanks!

You may want to consider replacing your Passport as well. Better safe than sorry.

Mine just randomly rebooted to. Sitting at my desk in front of my computer, phone off to the left. Caught something out of the corner of my eye. Blackberry on the screen of Passport. No apparent reason, and only a couple of apps loaded, otherwise stock.

    Hmmmmmmm?

My Q10 on 10.3.0.1154 will occasionally reboot. BlackBerry can't seem to kick this problem. It has popped up on a few different OSs since 10.0.

Random reboots were common with removable battery blackberry 10 phones I'm surprised that it's still a problem on non removable battery phones.

Try a security wipe and start fresh....still rebooting, replace handset.

Not sure but I haven't the issues described here but I'm with Rogers Wireless and during setup there was a carrier pushed minor update.

**** not again. I had that problem with Z10 and Q10. I haven't had the passport reboot yet. I hope this issue doesn't continue.

This sounds exactly what happened to the early z10s. Everyone was insisting that it was hardware related. It turned out to be software related. Specifically the OS version Verizon was using. It happened to mine at first then after an update it stopped happening.

Who is your carrier. Wasn't a lot of the Z10 rebooting because of a program tripping the sanity monitor? The OS will reboot itself if the OS becomes unreponsive.

Still happens to my Z10. The software "fix" only increased the interval from a few times a day to once every week, if not once every few days. This makes me slightly reluctant to pass on my Z10 to the wife when the Passport arrives.

This thread makes me nervous, but I think this time if I get a couple of reboots within the first 30 days, I'm asking for an exchange.

Agreed, they've reduced the reboot occurences but by no means is it completely fixed

Was also going to hand down the phone and get the Passport but theres enough ridicule for using Blackberry, I don't need to offer any more ammunition by giving a device (which for me is slowing down) and randomly reboots.

I don't have any such issues with my Q10 or Z10. Once I get my Passport I'll keep an eye out for it.

While your passport is still new (that you don't have much stuff on it)... start with a security wipe. don't restore from backup

If the problem still persist, then return it

Mine has done this twice now as well, only had it a month. I have NO additional apps on it, running most current proper OS, and it did it once in call, and once while just swiping the screen...has to be software related, not hardware I am thinking...but may have to contact Blackberry?
Yes, battery was about 80% or so each time as well. it reboots and everything is fine, but still concerned...???
