I always thought we could only attach 5 photos to an MMS/SMS message but I actually just sent a text with 6 pictures attached. Does the number correlate with the size of the photo?

There's no hard limit that I'm aware of when it comes to the number of photos, as long as it's within the size limit of your carrier. Carriers usually limit MMS to 300-500KB per.
