Final Update: this is what I settled on, probably more than I need for the Passport but I also have a camera it could be temporarily used in and who knows what the future devices I may buy so I decided to get more powerful SD, Samsung microSDXC UHS1 ProSelect, Read speed 95mbps, Write speed 90mbps, Class 10, U3 4K ultra HD, Model: MB-MF128D, Model Code: MB-MF-128DA/AM, Bar Code: 8 87276 16477 9, comes preformated for so it worked right away without needing to format. Water, magnet, temperature and xray Proof.

I'm looking at adding a 128GB Micro SD card to my unlocked Passport. I was looking for information regarding what Blackberry says is the optimum read/write speed to use.

I'll be making videos, playing movies, playing music, taking still photos. Does playing movies/video even matter for speed? I see the faster cards advertised which reference writing to card faster for taking photographs and writing to card faster.

Bottom line is I don't want to pay double for fastest read/write speed if the Passport hardware won't be able to utilize it. But if it can then that's what I'll buy. So can anyone refer me to a BB page with the details I'm looking for? If you have an answer, could you please reference a web page to show your suggestion?

Can you refer me to a BB web page that shows the phones capabilities as far as max read/write speeds of phone. Price is double for a faster card. I do appreciate you taking time to answer but you should understand my hesitation to accept such a simple answer without a backup web page to prove your point. Faster isn't better if the phone is not designed to handle faster read/write.

Faster is always better and absolutely required to run 1080. Just get a class ten card.
Ps internal memory is much faster than external SD.

Bro, this depends on the os, not the phone. As far as I know, the BlackBerry os 10 does support the speed as fast as UHS-I card and I have already tried the same on my BlackBerry Passport. I have tried to compare between the class 4, class 10 and UHS-I ones on my phone. As a result the UHS-I card did give a better copying speed, but not much faster than the class 10 one, and of course the class 4 cannot be compared in this category. Hence, I highly recommend you to pick up a 128 gb class 10 card to save money since the UHS-I is faster but not worth it.

That's not true. You do need good/new hardware to take full advantage of the fastest cards.
There have been some good discussions about this regarding the Priv. I think the consensus was that the Priv does not really get anything out of the fast U3 cards.

I have a class 10 SD but before I bought this I had a regular one and I don't really see a difference b/c blackberry doesn't use the SD for system storage, only video and the like.

Because you are using the card only for storing your media files for your entertainment. If you do such things like copying and moving files between folders, system storage, you definitely see the difference for sure.

The 1st was SanDisk ultra class 4, but it was only 64gb, it was from a previous phone, so I got this SanDisk ultra class 10 128gb and it seems the same so I think I paid for the larger capacity and not speed ,next I may get a class 4 with 200gb.
