OK guys, I have a BlackBerry Passport with an OTA updated firmware version 10.3.1.1565 (I'm from Egypt). My notification volume has become so low I miss all the calls & messages.
My simple fix for this is using an mp3 file for the ring tone. I downloaded a cut of the song Saxo beat and it plays LOUD for calls.
I downloaded the water drop message sound from Zedge and assigned it to Whatsapp messages and it works great too. just temporarily until they push us the fixed update so we can get our stock sounds back
    Enjoy your phones.

Hey there ... I'm also from Egypt xD

So you mean then mp3 files will play loudly as it was previous on old 10.3.0 ? rather than the stock extension ringtones ?

He's right. I've changed all my notifications to mp3 music files and it's much louder including my ringtone.

All I did was went to Notifications>profiles: Normal>Customize App Notifications>Phone and turned up the volume. Solved the issue.

Yes. It is possible to improve things just by selecting different options. I had downloaded a ringtone app a long time ago that comes with a lot of different sounds, many of which are .mp3 I can get to acceptable (though still low) sound levels with these. But this is ridiculous! They had this o/s in Beta for how long? And nobody ever noticed? People with impaired hearing will REALLY be in trouble with this.

That's the best fix from the Notifications.
The work around is good too.
Any mp3 ringtones i use or make usually played louder anyway.

BeBuzz Pro works as well, but like the OP mentioned, BeBuzz will use .mp3 files.
