Seems like this issue with double contacts will never be fixed with BB OS 10, I just upgraded to the latst 10.3.2 OS and then did a security wipe to start from scratch. after logging into my Google account by adding my Gmail and choosing to sync contacts, now a lot of my contacts have duplicates, one with a valid phone number and the other one is just the name but has no number or anything else when you open it.....

1) Why is this?

2) is there an automated way to delete those duplicate contacts? But I want to make sure that only the blank ones are deleted not the ones with an actual phone number

I used this in the past and worked well. I used it to merge contacts with the same name together.

I have a same issue.
My solution is:
-From setting of contact, choose no gmail contacts displayed.
-manually delete all the zombie contacts (1000 +)
-choose to re display gmail contacts.

Really? Surely there's some way other than manually deleting 1000 contacts manually.

Sadly there is no select all button to choose from the tab else all will be down to much simple for this.

I have switched contacts from one Android device to the passport.
allright!
but on Android i had the exciting option of hide contacts without phone number.
there is a way?

Look at them in the phone app. Only those with phone numbers will show up.

If you have Viber this might be the problem. I deleted Viber, then re-install it but did not check the sync with phone contacts on Settings. It worked for me

I have the same issue, I manually deleted the duplicate contacts and then after a few days it came back again. I just merged the actual contact and the duplicate ones.
