I just always have some issue with my BB10 devices. This time a very loose volume button. And I seriously don't want to replace this device. Can I repair this myself?

For Z10 the volume key is part of the middle frame. I assume it is the same for other models.

You can get middleframe + screen as one unit quite cheap and just reuse back cover, battery and main board.

Not too complicated to do but definitely voids warranty.

Ahh, won't try it for a year+ then. Is this something worth replacing the whole handset for?

I don't know, just checked my Z30 and the V Up is slightly looser than the others as well. Never noticed that until now.

...Just checked the Passport and the V Up does wiggle if I try to move it. Again, never noticed and I don't really see as a problem, but not sure the level of severity on your Passport.

My mother's Z10 doesn't seem to have much wiggle room at all so I guess it would be up to you to return it based on this. How was your other BB10 volume keys? I would check them and see how much the difference actually is.

It's pretty loose. Makes an audible jingle when shaking the phone.

(I should note this was an Amazon purchase, and the BlackBerry box was pretty rough, and the film on the back of the phone looked as though it was reapplied. Could be a returned device...)

I removed my temp TPU case to test mine out and if I hold the Passport from the bottom and "shake it", I hear the same sound I'm assuming as it is from the V Up key... just never noticed it. I'll be keeping my Passport, but wonder if others can hear this... almost tempted to keep the TPU case on as it covers the volume keys, but I don't personally see this as a big deal. I guess when I switch back to the hard shell I'll possibly notice it more. I doubt it will cause any issues though, but not sure if more have this and just do not realize it.

What type of case are you planning on using if any? The TPU gel type cases cover the volume keys which is not a real fix, but there is definitely no audible from the loose keys with these type cases on and they "hold" the volume keys in place.

I had this on my Passport, which also had a screen with dead pixels. I could jiggle the phone and it would make a noise and annoy me. I think I have OCD. It's not like the button presses easier or something, but it just bothered me that it was so loose.

The replacement phone doesn't have it. Just replace it. You'll be happier and it won't always be in the back of your mind!
