Disabling swipe to wake and enable lift to wake on #blackberryPassport is a combo you *have* to try.
You're safe in the pocket and easy at work or anytime you lay your device on a flat surface.
I love how efficient it is !

edited : "Flip to save power" setting bellow is not mandatory to gain what's advertised above, just a personal choice

Thanks for the tip. I do get annoyed by the swipe to wake. Your suggestion seems to make a lot of sense and I am trying it now.

About putting the device facedown. What about the LED notification? What's its interest in such a case ?

Does "swipe to wake" so much battery consumer ?

Yes, when swipe to wake is on , the screen is ALWAYS waiting for a swipe. Therefore consuming battery, not to mention the fact the screen will turn on unannounced in your pocket.

I turned mine off but it still does the lift to wake thing. Also would it be better to have a hardshell case before activating the function so the screen isn't always scratching on the table?

P.S: You don't have to activate the face down halt (flip to save power), while on my screen capture, it's not what I advertise.

On Q10 you can turn on screen just buy pressing random key on keyboard, dunno if its same on passport.

Placing the device facedown can be used for fast shutdown, mostly in addition with the previous parameter (Flip to mute) which makes it silent. Of course, no led, unless you're on a glass desk wearing white trouser in the dark lol.

I've always thought about this, I wonder how much difference in battery life will make with it ON and OFF.... I know for example that Air gestures in Samsung phones does consume a significant amount of more battery

I think it only works if if you press one of the numerical keys. And since there are no numerical keys on the Passport, this won't work.
