Hey guys,

I am going to replacement the keyboards on my black & white passports.

Has anybody already done this before? Any suggestions what to keep in mind doing so? Anything important?

I watched a few videos online - because you really have to disassemble the whole thing in order to get the keyboard off of the frame...

I did it twice. Was going to get it done at a repair shop. Saw the online videos and it was easy.
Be careful with bottom cover of keyboard, plastic chin, when removing. It can snap in half.
You have to remove the battery to get to 2 screw holding keyboard in. Those 2 screw don't overtighten them as they strip very easily. I think they're a T2 screw.

What are the symptoms of needing a new keyboard other than it not working? How old are your devices?

I have a 2.5 year old Passport and it's running great but if I want to keep BlackBerry 10 going into 2020 I might need to look at this option.

How much do the replacement keyboards cost?

I would only replace if it starts to fail or double-type.

Depending on your typing style, you may never actually need to replace it.

Replacements are about $20.
