I've just bought a Passport Silver: when I opened the box I said "wow!".
But I noticed that the keyboard backlight isn't uniform. The letters QAY on the left (german layout) are more lit, as you can see in the picture or here:

Is my phone defective? Or is it quite common?
I don't know if I should return the phone...

Didn't notice until you pointed out. And I have also EU/German version.
Don't see it as anything to complain about nor reason for return as defective keypad.

Even if you would return it for warranty claim, they wouldn't accept it because this is the norm. Nothing wrong with the backlit, that's normal

There are only a few leds behind which can not provide the same light intensity to all the keys. It's normal mate.

Quite common. Mine isn't uniformly backlit either.

Mine are fine.
The closer I look it does seem that the side ones are brighter, but it could be the angle...
When I cover external light sources with my hands and hold they keyboard closer to my eyes, they all seem lit perfectly fine.
Could be a lighting trick... or whatever.
If you can see the letters than who cares.
I barely look at the keyboard anyways.

My silver edition has the same issue. Never understood what the "fault" was. I have the same issue on my black passport too. But who cares..
