Assume you are on a KEYone or KEY2?
If so go to Settings, Display, Keyboard brightness, toggle off Backlight brightness for available light and adjust slider keyboard brightness.
No way to do this on a BB10 device.
Install BBVE from BBworld and do the sensor tests.
The proximity sensor may have a problem. Try cleaning the inner side of the screen where the proximity sensor is placed(just above blackberry logo)

Thanks, but you misunderstood me.
The sensor works fine. It dims and brightens based on the light content.
What I want to do is make the keyboard lighting Max brightness all the time.

NO, there's no manual adjustment for that, The only one way to do that is to always stay outdoor! LoL!
