Don't update Facebook, just use the current version. And download Messenger LITE.
Also WhatsApp will work till June or something I guess. So don't worry about it yet.

Welcome to the Passport family! I've used apps from BB store, Amazon and Google Play. They each have something to offer. Just be aware that not all apps will be compatible or work flawlessly with the Passport. There are some threads in the BB10 apps section of the forum regarding recommended apps. Also if you want to access Google Play you'll need to sideload Snap if you haven't already. Hope you like the Passport!

You can't downgrade, but not having hub support for Facebook is not so bad, plus there are a couple of FB clients available on BB World, so you could see if any of those work out for you. I find the default redirection to the mobile website works OK for myself.

To find your PIN just go into BBM and click on your profile in the top left corner. It should tell you in there.

I think you made a great purchase decision! The passport is a fantastic phone and build so solid

What Passport version did you get? The Silver Edition or the Regular Black on?

To download WhatsApp, you can just download from Blackberry World no need to side load anything.
