It includes app storage (not the apps themselves, but files created by them). Best bet is to access your app's stored files and see what's going on there.

And then again a wipe of the phone and starting over can do wonders. If you do and you haven't updated it would be a perfect time to update to the latest 10.3.3.
Just be sure to back up all necessary files to the SD card

That system file is bloated. Wipe or reload is a must.
User file are your media, documents and app data cached/downloaded. For media and documents, move it to sd card. For app data, you can clear cache by going to app and click clear data.

Yes, I have android apps installed. I can't say for 100% that android apps don't cause system file to bloat out, but it is more common when OS files got corrupted and increased in size after an OTA update. Reload your phone OS with autoloader should fix the problem from its root. It might sound like a intimidating procedure, but trust me it is fairly simple.

I also had 12GB System storage after OTA updating to 10.3.3.3057 from 10.3.2.2876. I backed up my Passport with Link , security wiped it, and did a Custom Restore by deselecting BlackBerry Runtime (showing about 9GB). Everything back to normal. Even BBM chat history came back after doing this https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...l#post12581708

... and then System Storage went from a reasonable 3GB after wipe and Link restore to 4.6GB in only one day and a half. I do wonder whether that is normal. Am on 10.3.3.3057. Will keep checking...

Stable as of now. Still at 4.6GB. Relieved and actually quite happy. Link has worked really well so far, restoring absolutely everyting, ringtones, all of the phone's settings, apps, app settings, both BB10 and Android (and I have quite a few Android apps at that).
