is there a way to install the snap apk direct ie: instead of side loading.

There's no way to do it because Snap is not android but native blackberry app

    Not an .apk
To install .bar files (native BlackBerry code), you need to sideload.
You can do this with either a computer or using something like Sideload.it

So you have to update snap manually, sideload the .bar.
Snap updates the App like BB world. Just click update section and it will download the New apk

So even thou you can download and install 1Mobile Market ( which I know is a apk file) you have to sideload snap which I consider to be the better app. I don't like that 1Mobile Market, it seems suspicious for some reason. Anybody else think that?

Nope, according to the dev, future updates should be able to automatically update the app itself. Once a .bar native app is installed, it usually is able to update its own files, depends on the app though.

Snap downloads the .apk files and compares version to your currently installed .apk applications to see if updates are available. If they are, it can download the newer .apk and bb10 can simple update the app so long as it's the same 'stream' (don't download an app from Amazon App store then update via Snap, you will likely lose progress)

Installing .apk files has been a feature of bb10.2.1+ (the users can install .apk files at their own discretion)

You can do it any way that you can load a .bar file to bb10, so Sachesi works among many

Personally I prefer the Chrome extension, but I'll use Sachesi sometimes too
