That was an internal test device, not a public Passport.

As has been said every time this question has been asked, don't hold your breath.

I suspect you'd need the drivers and what not to make the hardware work. I'm sure there is a copy of that OS under lock and key.

Why release an OS upgrade on devices already sold. Now wait a year or two when the device is over 3-4 yrs old, and then launch a PP2...I could only dream. Priv is nice but PP is so much better.

Of course a whole OS isn't trivial, but if this is the road they've chosen, as much as I'm liking BB10 as a first time blackberry user...

This is all speculation, but when a company updates its product's firmware, even old ones, it does wonders for its reputation, this happened with Fuji's X100: even those of us who didn't have one thought "now this is a company I'd buy from", particularly in a market with other products with quality control problems (I'm still talking about cameras).

If they were a decent company, they would've at least given us the option to either upgrade to Android or stay on os10. I would've paid for that and so would have so many others. Otherwise they could have made it more open to developers to develop their own Android ROM for it and make it easy to wipe and install, just like I used to do on my rooted phones.

Part of their security spiel is that nobody other than BlackBerry can do that. It's out of character.

I find it hard to believe that they don't do that for security reasons.
I work for a large company (not related to phones) and what usually happens is that the management gets detached from reality and the workers are too complacent.... seems to me this is probably a more appropriate reason...

One could be because your definition of keeping it "up to date" is installing a completely different OS years after releasing the device which would negate the security certifications the Passport now has.

Would you consider telling Windows that they should take those Windows RT devices that are the same age of the Passport and have them install a different platform like Android to keep them "up to date"???
They won't even upgrade them to a newer version of Windows lol

That plus the points that the gizillion other forums posts here on the topic mention against it lol.
