Did anyone notice that the word Bold was used in front of passport?

Does this mean a return of the Bold name?

Hmm, given the lack of a dedicated shift key, could a lightly held touch on the space bar double as one, for some functions, perhaps?
I was thinking something very similar. it would be nice if you could press and hold the "z" key as if it were Alt and the press or tap a physical key that was oriented with the virtual keyboard row to select the number or punctuation. like on a debit machine where you press the physical button located below or beside where it says "chq" or "sav". you could then get in the habit of holding "z" and pressing or tapping "m" to insert a comma or whatever.

I think that was just an adjective... it was on lower case letters, not capital.

It would be great if you could double tap the keyboard when you aren't entering text to pop up a mouse cursor in the Web browser or docs to go etc. Would be really useful for certain tasks that require the precision of a trackpad.

Actually, I think you misunderstood. You don't select text on older BBs by "hold the SHIFT key while dragging your finger across the keyboard to extend a selection", you have to drag your finger over the trackpad/trackball.
I know. Hold the SHIFT and scroll the trackpad but the construction of the sentence led me to believe that he was talking about the older BlackBerry. PLUS, there's no SHIFT key on the Passport. So, there might be some kind of typo there or a hidden SHIFT key. I could only guess.

That's exactly how it works, read the post again. Double tapping enables the cursor and then holding your finger on the keyboard and moving it enables you to select text.

That Passport is getting every day more exciting !
I hope they'll do a great marketing with some good videos about that keyboard, i know a lot of people who would want that keyboard right now as virtual keyboard is often a hassle where you find yourself more like fighting for writing than just writing what you think!

I want the Typo keyboard because somebody on CNBC Said if BlackBerry loses the Typo case it's all over for BlackBerry. Typo + iPhone is the way to go !

    Poof .....Typo ...vs...Passport / Classic !
It's like Brazil vs House league soccer......poof !!!!

Sir, did you have one too many beers while watching the games. The typo is going to be beat by BlackBerry, it's only a matter of time and the Judges and officials to open their eyes and look beyond the bias. Furthermore, how can a user of a Z30 that have seen the real deal prefer a counterfeit product.

    Or alternatively it's conceptual...

    1. Double tap to enter precision editing mode.
    2. Single tap to lock cursor at start of selection.
    3. Drag to the end of selection.
    4. Single tap to confirm selection.

    Done.

It doesn't work well when you're editing text. You need the single tap to place the cursor anywhere.

Why should you like it more?
You should like it less... they could have easily made a physical full keyboard with a real key.
You need to stop making this kind of comment. You can have your owm opinion, but it isn't necessary for others to have the same opinion with you.

No one here gets their hands on the Passport yet. I'd rather hold back my comments until I have a chance to play the real device in my own hands.

Love this list. Even if just 70% accurate it addresses a lot of my initial concerns!
All I want to add here is that this still does not clearly cover: numbers.
You know, those special symbols you use to call people, or add PINs or enter data...
If those only ever show up in a huge 20%-ish-part-of-screen "virtual symbol keyboard" (like they do now on the Q-series), instead of a clean dedicated row of numbers, that would really annoy me.
Especially when editing large sets of data, having the numbers + symbols take up a sizable portion of the screen just sounds counterproductive to me...

So for me it would ideally be:
Normal: contextual row with frequently used symbols.
1 swipe down: change that to a row with only numbers + math symbols.
2 swipes down: show extended view of other symbols where neccessary.
1 swipe up: back to 'Normal'.

    BlackBerry 10 signed.

Wouldn't it be cool if the letters change and light up to be a totally different key? Like the qwerty changes to 12345. Now that would be amazing
