Definitely a Classic as a first choice. If not, probably some Windows phone or the Priv.
Gotta support the underdogs, I always say!

I would say either Samsung S7/Note 5 or IPhone 6s/6Plus

Blackberry curve 8900, what a classic! Love to go back to it, unfortuntely the trackpad doesnt work well anymore.
Yes, it is for me and actually for many, many other users out there; this comment comes out very often in many forums. It shouldn't be misconstrued as negative either. If you compare the form-factors and the available screen real estate, the Passport is much more confortable for working on longer runs with more apps opened.
I should add that I am left-handed, so my thumb, in singled-handed use isn't on the return side, delete, side. Nevertheless, I think the Passport wasn't built with one-handed use in mind.
The Passport is an excellent device. I have two.
Unlocking the screen, writing emails, BBMing and navigating through apps are all tasks more easily done on a less large device when you only have one hand free.
I'm left handed too.
....something inferior and unsatisfying.

I'm still using 9900 Bold as a music player and an alarm clock, and I have 5 dictionaires installed on it.
I keep it in my backpack, always charged and handy.
If I had a new battery I would not replaced it. But there is 4G and all that stuff around and BB does not support OS7 so browser is obsolete, impossible to go online.
Now I would go latest iphone, as better than android. When I bought my passport I went from a Z10 so probably would have gone Z30 if the passport hadn't been around.
Swiped on my Passport!
I've had my Passport since it launched a while back. but I've been on the BB10 train since the Q10 came out in 2013. I'm actually getting a Note 5 in a few days.
Still on a Z10
Up until April 2016, I had a Bold 9780 and was still using it as a phone. It goes without saying that it was already obsolete (it only had OS6 on it), but I didn't mind sticking with it, especially due to the swappable battery. (Oh, how I miss swappable batteries. Those were easier times, lol.) But I finally got off my butt and upgraded to the Passport SE because, like you, I couldn't get great data/Internet service on my Bold. No 4G and not even 3G anymore -- just EDGE. If it wasn't for that, I probably would've stuck with it for a longer amount of time, since I can go without plenty of apps.

I rolled with a Nokia N900 for the last three years. Obsolete browser and slower than 14k dialup Internet speed on EDGE. One would become a skeleton waiting for a page to load. It could do 3G, but it never got the chance, on the account of AT&T in my area. Wish I knew about the Passport in 2014...

Your experience basically mirrors mine, lol. After T-Mobile changed their towers last summer, my Bold's internet capabilities became slower (due to just having EDGE), and some pages wouldn't even load. But I hung in there because I guess I'm not big on change, if it isn't necessary to do so.
In a way, I think maybe it might have been nice if I switched to the Passport earlier -- probably more convenient in a lot of ways, and I could've been a little more up to speed with the 'modern' world, haha. Although I did find out about the Passport over a year ago, I chose not to buy it because I was so hung up on having a Blackberry with a swappable battery. I only started to feel the temptation to change when (1) the Passport SE was released and (2) T-Mobile notified me about my phone no longer being compatible with their tower upgrades. Even then, I waited about 9 months before making the jump.
I still have my Bold 9780, though. Good little reliable phone...and if I ever need a temporary substitute for phone calls alone (i.e., basic travel phone), then I can always use that.
I might give a Priv a try, or whatever the next gen device is, or I'd try the latest Galaxy Note again. I used one briefly, liked some of the features and size, and liked the S pen quite a bit. It just wasn't as good, from my perspective, as BB10 for managing emails, which is my main use for a device.

Yep, it sounds like you know how it's like to be stuck somewhere and it would be immensely helpful to be able fetch a page from the Internet and have it rendered with some readability to guide your impending decision, but you can't because you're a luddite on purpose and resist change stubbornly. AT&T will kick my N900 off the network in December, so after a full year of reminders, I did the research and got the Passport.
For those of us who don't really stay up to date in the mobile device world, it's all a matter of timing when we get something new.
- 2010-2011: iPhone3G - left in a cab in Vegas.
- 2011-2012: Sony Ericsson w810i Candybar - still have it, still works!
- 2012-2013: Blackberry Bold 9000. Bought two used ones off eBay so my sister and I could BBM again. Hers died within the month, and mine had trouble with calls and emails over the course of the next year.
- 2012-2013: Sony Xperia Play w/ their famous Playstation gamepad - fantastic phone, dropped it in the toilet. :-)
After all that I did research in mid 2014 and got the N900 having determined it would be the best PKB at the time, and it was. Despite not being able to do anything modern and having reception problems and other quirks, it's been a brilliant phone and OS. Missed the Passport by a few months or I would have been onboard long ago.
I'm still using the N900 for music everyday because the Passport's 3.5mm audio output does not have sufficient drive strength until cranked up to the maximum or one level below (I still use a 3.5mm to cassette tape adapter in the car). No longer a viable backup phone after the end of the year, but a historic piece for the collection nonetheless, like your Bold 9780.
After having the Passport for a couple of weeks now, I can't see myself using the Android slabs and enjoying them. Virtual keyboards have been worked out for precision and tactile feedback pretty well at this point, but they don't cut it for me at all. PKB or bust!
I was tempted to sell my passport as was getting a very good price for it so tried apple and androids for a month but trust me guys I ended up coming back to passport with the decision that I will keep it till it works and will go for priv next I was already missing the passport as my daily driver when on ios and android they dont compare passport is hell of a beast....if you dont have one stock one as a piece of history which is going down and nothing was ever built the way bb10 worked and you can walk with pride as you have used a passport nothing compares to it.....and my worst night mare ios and android I never knew pop up and advt. Were so frequent being from BlackBerry clan I was shocked.....best phone ever built hell of a beast I just carry one phone Hail Passport and the red one is sizzling hot
Red passport
If it's not passport, it will be galaxy note.
Keyboard isnt a big deal for me. Touch keyboards in android are also custumizable and meet my needs.
Another Passport?
I have got three of them.
So, the sequence is Passport, Passport, Passport.
And I have a Classic.

Waiting for a handheld MS Surface. Wish they didn't spy on you like Google but I don't hate MS as much as Google.

I still have my phone like that. Works too!
Jaglenn's Passport
The classic cuz it's a classic and also maybe the Z 30 because of the big screen
Posted via CB10
Most likely the S7 edge (I'll probably buy that soon to replace my gold edition bold 9900)
