Actually it surprises me to say that I might find this useful. I adore the phkb but there are some times that in quiet environments, when in need to compose text, the clicking sound causes to disturb people. For such scenarios, a feature like the one described by the OP might be useful in combination with the word flick...

What happens if the keys are tapped in the touch part of the keyboard test in BBVE?

Because there are times, like the OP illustrated, where the Passport's stiff button pressure makes it difficult to use.
Like when you cut the tip of one of your thumbs like I just did yesterday lol

That one, and multi directional scrolling.

Like scrolling left and right? That's existed before the update.

Is that a heatmap of the key presses?? That looks like really bad accuracy on the keyboard.

I actually like the idea. When I'm in bed at night, I would like to have this feature so that the clicking of the keys won't interrupt my wife's sleeping. It would really come in handy when I'm on the phone and I need to send a text or look up something. I would like to see blackberry do this.

I think it's a screenshot of the BlackBerry virtual expert.

The touch sensitive keyboard is more accurate than displayed on the screenshot. It's probably as accurate as your screen.

It's an alternative, people like alternatives. If you don't like it, you wouldn't use it and you wouldn't have anything to worry about. He needs it for a specific purpose.

What's being conveyed here? It looks like the OP said he "tapped each key once". Either the green color represents the tapped area and the keys missed a few taps, or the keys shown represent the keys that were identified as tapped and the green area is the misses.

The green area is what registered a touch. The blank is where it didn't pick up anything but I wonder if it might be accurate enough to do this like on the vkb how it learns where you place your fingers on the on screen keys and can compensate a little

Wrong...I believe as consumers, we don't know exactly what we want. And if a phone tries to do too much and overlap on one of its most prized possessions (keyboard), we as consumers get confused and get frustrated.

That's why these tech companies spend years on quality assurance to make the best of their ideas shine. If it was truly what everyone wanted, BlackBerry would have implemented it.

I think you're right. Bbve might be a bit blocky on the test

I 'touch typed' "cbforums" and this is the screenshot:

I bet it could be more accurate and responded to the touches instantly

When I'm back from holiday I'll see if I can make something like this. I'll put it for free on BlackBerry World.
