Using my BlackBerry Z30 temporarily and the color on it is MUCH richer than the Passport. Passport screen is brighter though. I hope they put an AMOLED screen on the next version of the Passport, dayumn.

I doubt they will, too many possible defects (purple tint for example + easier to get screen burn in), shame really, 3/4 of my last devices have been OLED, gorgeous screens

You're probably going to get a bunch of people who extremely disagree with you but I also would have preferred the LED simply for the fact that it uses less of the battery.
I actually find the screen that the Passport currently has to be more vivid than the Z30 and for using it in sunlight it is much clearwr brighter and clearer.
However, if I had a choice between different types of screens, I would always choose the one that is better on the battery life

Having had note 1 and 3 I like the natural colour of the pp. Samsung screens are impressive but the reality is they are amplified example of the world

Absolutely agree. The Z30 screen is gorgeous, People say it's too dark but after using it for a few seconds they say that it's so nice to use and their own phones give them headaches.

If the passport had bigger keys and AMOLED I would definitely get one now.

Imagine the passport and an AMOLED , I guess the battery would last for a week Hehe.

Anyway, it is such a beautiful device. My thumbs aren't made for the tiny keyboard rows though. Get cramps writing on them.

I agree. SuperAMOLED looks amazing on the Z30 and other devices. It also uses less energy. That's one thing I think they should have done differently on the PP.

Hate amoleds. Burn in issues that should never happen in 2015. Go look at phones on display at cell stores that have amoled screens. People will say yeah but those are on 24/7. Ok. Now look at the models with LCD screens next to them that are on 24/7. Point made.

I've had several AMOLED devices and none have had screen burn. The Z30 has been in constant use for a couple of years now, at least! My wife now owns it and loves it.

While they may be annoying at night, at least LCD screens can be used when the sun is out.

This might seem really weird, and it kinda does to me now that I think about it: I've owned a buttload of smartphones and have yet to think the screen on one is any better or that I prefer one over the other. It might be a component of devices that I don't scrutinize that much.

I'm sure there's a threshold to what I'll accept, but I haven't had a phone yet who's screen falls under it.

A Passport with an AMOLED screen might be the one battery-saving junkies have been looking for the rest of their life.

I don't get the hate on OLED, it's as if people like screens so bright it blots out the sun, my Z30 rarely leaves minimum

AMOLED screens can be brightened for use in direct sunlight. My Galaxy Note Edge has a superamoled, and I use it during bright and sunny days while watching the boys play soccer.

Whatever Samsung is using on their amoled screens is top tier - I'm sorry but whatever BlackBerry used in the Z30 and Q10 is far far below that standard.

The Z30 and Q10 were not great examples of AMOLEDs - they had the deep blacks and improved power usage, but colour accuracy and brightness was far from great.

These days, Samsung makes vastly improved AMOLED displays that compete with the best of the best in overall quality. They can push their brightness much higher in direct sunlight, and colour accuracy is competitive with the iPhone 6, one of the best LCD displays in the industry. It likely won't be long before there aren't any reasons remaining to stick to LCD.

The z30 screen is nice, but I miss the higher res of the z10. I really want a passport as my next device...Unless BlackBerry releases a v2 of the z30 with passport-like specs.
