OK, ever since I've had a physical keyboard blackberry, I've wanted the keyboard keys and screen to be bigger - for man size hands and old eyes.

My Q10 did an ok in terms of upsizing the Bold 9900 but it's still not big enough for me.

The Z10 was first, followed by the 30 in terms of full screen BB10 offerings. I hope the next offering in the Q series grows in size like the 30 did.

Is there anyone else who would want a Q10xL?

Not sure I would want it but the size phones are getting is huge anyway so I don't see why they wouldn't make a larger one unless the ergonomics are thrown way off.

I wonder the same thing. As of right now, the ergonomics are off for me.

    Still the best keyboard though

Just to give an idea of what would really look like a Q30 with 4" screen:
It would be only 2 centimeters taller, as you can easily gain screen space removing the Blackberry logo.
So if the Q10 is 11,9 cm then a Q30 could be only 13,9 cm tall.
And that would be sticking with the actual Q10 width (66,8mm), if you make it a little larger like the Z30 (72mm) then the Q30 form factor would fit in less than 13,9 cm!
For comparison the Z30 is 14 cm.
I think it wouldn't be really that bulky, of course it would be closer to the phablet segment, or at least at the very limit of usability.
But i can't wait to use such a screen estate paired up with the fantastic couple BB10 -physical keyboard.

Those were my thoughts too since I purchased my Z30 and a watch people around me with Q10 loving the keyboard but not having a real media experience on it because of the screen size. In the prosumer market the phablet should be the core device.

I come from a Bold 9700 and Curve 9360 so to me the keys are already on the "big" side of things. But a big 720p screen would be awesome

There is an issue though. The phone might end up pretty unbalanced mass wise, aka top heavy.

Unless your talking about maybe a 9900 Dakota design.

I agree to some comments. Why can't BlackBerry make better use of the screen real estate like other iPhone or Samsung? For example, on a Z10 BlackBerry should put their name either on the back cover or on the bezel so they can get bigger screen without having to increase the size of the phone overall. Same thing can be said for the Q10 and Z30.

The extra few mm taken up by the part with their name on it is not a big deal overall and removing it would not lead to them releasing a device with a bigger display, just a fractionally smaller device that suffered from the gestures not working quite as well as they should.

The issue is the square screen format. You can make a taller Q but not so much a wider one. The Q5 has more gesture space so in that respect the Q5 is a better design.

I don't think a Q10 1.5/2 cm taller would be that unbalanced mass wise... might turn out even more confortable in hands (larger 0.6cm and taller 1.5/2cm).
Hope to see one out soon!

The screen diagonal would only be 3.38 inches . 2.4 x 2.4 .Not enough.

To sport a 4" screen on a Q30 with Z30 width you'd only need a phone 13-13.5 cm tall depending on how much you optimise:
1- the almost 'edge to edge screen', you can easily gain 0.5 cm on the actual Q10 form factor that uses 5.5 screen space on its 6.6 width.
2- Blackberry logo space: cutting off the space between the screen top edge and the speaker: no need of Blackberry logo on this 1cm waste of space.
I did a mockup with a piece of paper and the phone is still reasonably pocket sized (little smaller than the Z30):
    'my'Q30 = 13.4cm length x 7.5cm width vs. 11.9cm x 6.6cm for the Q10.

A more realistic assumption, in the short term, is that BlackBerry can not package the Q30 more efficiently than the Z30. If they were to make a Q10 form the same physical size as a Z30 my calculation shows a screen size of 3.03 x 2.4 = 3.865 inches .

The Q5 form factor seems better than the Q10 as it is no longer yet has more bottom up gesture space. In the short term a Q5 expanded to the size of a Z30 but using a Bold style keyboard seems to be the best that BlackBerry could offer. A significant improvement if they could get past the square screen format.

If Motorola or LG etc made a BlackBerry, I agree that a 4 inch QWERTY is quite feasible.

All they have to do is make the bottom of the phone slightly heavier than the top and you could easily get close to a 4" phone. Remember phones are all getting bigger.
The problem is BlackBerry has become a timid phone maker. The z10 was a middling Size, what they thought as a safe bet. Same with the Q10, a tiny improvement in size .
there is no one at BlackBerry that know what people are going to want 6 months from now. People are media consumers now. Instagram, picture sharing, Internet, YouTube.
We not afraid of bigger phones! Women are carrying around galaxy s4"s.
Make a 4" screen with a keyboard and BlackBerry would have a big hit on they're hands.
And put back that optical Pad and make it so you can press it and slide your thumb for swipe commands and peek.
    Step up, show no fear!

My thoughts are they build around a screen that measures 2.4 inches by 3.2 inches = 4 inches on the diagonal.
