If this is not ugly, I have no idea what is? Whoever the engineer that design this device must step out of the closet and check out all the competitor devices design. Whoever in charge of the design department must resign immediately because it is ugly device. If this is what they are going to bring out to the market, don't even think they can sale for millions, not even in thousands.

There are no other large screen qwerty phones out there so what does BlackBerry have to compare it to?

How is it a good looking device? It's a square screen stuck on top of a rectangular keyboard. I don't mean to harsh but is this really a beautiful design?

I'm really hoping this is a dev device and the finished product is going to be more refined.

I think it looks strong, slick and good quality. Perhaps I am crazy, but I don't think it's nearly as ugly as people say it is.

Also, my sister like the Lumia design for the 'hard right angle corners'. I heard people complaining about the corners being too angled.

I only hope it changes, because everyone else says it's ugly, but for me, this is great!

I'll disagree. This thing is ugly.

Windermere is a gorgeous and sexy looking device. I have seen it in person and these pictures don't do it justice. It feels powerful and commanding in the hand, kinda like the Bold 9000.

I have been waiting for this device to come out for over a year.
I'm with you on this one!

I think it is great that you are taking the time to like the phone. However, not very many people will do that and will pass on first impression. Unfortunately, this not what BlackBerry needs at this point if they want to continue in the phone business.

The mockup I made is 133x84 mm (3.3x5.2") and it's not as huge as it looks in pics, fits ok in most pockets and it is not that weird when you hold it although it is definitely designed for two hands use..

The phone has gravitas...I don't know of a better way to put it. The Q10 and Z30 have veered away from the classic BlackBerry premium feel. The P'9981 felt great in the hand as did the 9000. Windermere reminds me of those devices in the hand. It has that premium feel to it. I am still not a fan of the glassweave crap BB is using these days and I hope they bring back the pleather.
txmrex, in what context would you have been lucky to actually see this device? I want to like it. The specs are killer.

I'd be surprised if it really looked like the pic in the OP. Blackberry has much more class than that. At least I hope so, lol.

LOL! Okay so its not the most beautiful phone in the world but maybe its because there's no other way to put these elements together?

True. It may be perfect as a medical or on the floor device but I don't think too many would want it as a personal phone but I thought that about phones with a 5" screen and what am I using?

Well that's true in some aspects. I honestly would not care what my phone looks like when I'm using it on the wards. I need something reliable with a large screen and battery. I had an iPhone all through medical school and I felt a little embarrassed to be pulling it out in front of patients and such to double check dosages and cross reactions of drugs. And to top it all off my iPhone would be dead by 4 pm :/ I was specially annoyed when I would be on call and with a paperweight in my pocket because I honestly don't have the time nor patience to keep charging the iPhone several times a day.

In my humble opinion, I feel that the q30/windermere would address almost all of these issues and then some. From the extended battery life to looking professional, ample screen size and frankly, being actually useful on the wards, for example checking stat x-rays CT scans on my phone securely, thanks to that high DPI screen.

To the average consumer, to whom these factors don't apply, cosmetic factors are higher up on the list. And I don't mean that in a condescending or demeaning manner. Even for myself when it comes to my personal phone, I would want a sexy looking phone. So I'm using a z30

So I'm actually excited for this and looking forward to see what tricks BlackBerry has up its sleeves. The medical industry is ripe for the taking and I want Blackberry to be king of the hill!

    Peace.

The keyboard is a bit low,if placed higuet and with a correct weight balance it would be great for typing. My old 9900 looks so tiny..
