Why? They want BB10 to grow not to cannibalize itself... lol

They should (and have for a while) offer incentives for any BB6,7 devices trade ins.

The passport at least, as it is expected to be a high dollar phone.

Yeah. Like 6 for my BlackBerry Bold 9780?

    You call it incentive?

They are in the business of making money not to run a charity. Some of us shareholders would not be pleased at all.

JC said that they needed to be profitable in smartphones, not that they would regain any particular marketshare. That means no discounts, no getting the phones out there to generate word of mouth, and no making it up by being more profitable once they are more popular.

And when they knockoff 150 per device and companies start turning their old bb10 phones for the new one...oh wait no company in their right mind is going to do that lol!
Every time a new phone is announced ala the z10-->z30, q10-->q5 people want a price discount on the NEW PHONE ROTFL!!

Also what happens to those used bb10 phones when they're retailing for a little over the 150 price point?? Sit in a warehouse somewhere

Your $150 discount will come from selling your existing phone on the used market, before heading to the store for your Passport.

    Me too..

And wouldn't it be awesome if it came in under 450?

That would put it in the hands of a lot of new customers @ that price point and I'm sure BlackBerry would make a nice profit from each sold..

Well, not realy... that could avoid people migrating from BB10 to android/IOS/WP, after all, there are some insatisfied costomers with Z10 and Q10

Passport is not geared for the mass market; those who can afford to buy it should. Those who can't should "cut their coats according to their respective sizes". There is nothing wrong with Z3 if that's what your budget allows.

If someone is looking at a passport, I guess the next option would be a Q10

Or hopefully the Classic might priced moderately to entice the "fence sitting " legacy users , plus those who may find the Passport pricey. Also I understand that the Q5 is a good phone too and is reasonably priced, although it is at EOL.

My guess is that if the Passport is too expensive then the next option is any number of great subsidized phones that have a ton of features including the iPhone 6.

If one could be patient and doesn't buy the Passport right away, wait for 6 months or so, it will be lot cheaper. Otherwise expect to pay full price at release.
