    My SIM cover had a couple tiny flecks of the silver paint chipped off just where you put your finger nail to lift it off. Very minor, most people probably wouldn't notice or care, but it bugged me.

    So I decided to make the Passport a little different and painted the SIM port cover matte black. It's a cool paint, actually intended for making chalk boards. Very simple - sanded the "old" silver paint with 1000 grit and then applied lots of very light coats. Probably 30 minutes total and then drying time.

    Voila.

    I liked the silver, and I like the black too. One nice effect of the black is that visually it minimizes the gaps between the SIM cover and the rest of the phone, especially at the top.

    Anyways, thought I'd show you guys.

    I really like it.

    I hate that they made it an awkward silver for whatever reason when the rest of the back is that grip black. I currently have the red, but when there's a blow out on the silver down the road I really want tot pick it up just to have another passport.

    Will definitely do this to my device.

    I used "Rust-Oleum Chalk Board", in a spray can. It's what I had in the house. I'm hopeful that it'll stand up to long-term wear and tear, we'll see.

    If anyone else tries painting their SIM cover or any other part of the phone I'd love to see it.

    Just contacted by BlackBerry, offered contract design gig to work on upcoming BB10/Android dual boot Gen 2 Passport. Initial specs look like snapdragon 820, big sensor and f1.4 on the cam, figured out how to mill it out of one piece of stainless including chin and frets, same screen res and size, body marginally narrower, matte black SIM port cover (!!!) and...ooo whoops better not say more... something something non-disclosure agreement something something...

    This is truly a professional work . The device looks beautiful in the new look The matt finish paint mated well with the back cover .
