This might seem like a noobie question but, noted that when I shoot a video with lowest resolution (720p) on my passport, a 1.03 minute video size is a surprisingly whopping 63MB. As you can imagine I cannot share such humongous size video with friends on BBM or whatsapp

So what am I doing wrong here and how to resolve it? Thanks!

I don't know if it's the best video shrinker, but it does the job well. Not ideal if you want to share fast a video, because it takes few minutes to an half an hour to compress the video, depending on the size.

Choose a phone with much lower megapixel camera.

There are apps and online sites capable of reducing the size for you, or do like I do and upload it to YouTube for sharing, so you only have to move the data once.

Thanks guys will try both routes of video shrinker and upload via youtube. But what iam saying is why does an android or apple phone takes 3-4 minutes of video and its size is just a few lbs and video quality is not bad

I still think it shouldn't be the way it is now

There are camera apps that allow recording to be much smaller. File size is a product of camera pixel density, frames per second, image size, and video quality. There's no magic making another phone's video smaller or larger, only higher or lower quality.

Also search App World using "video".

You should have 3 different resolution settings built in, and as has been said repeatedly many app options should you need more choices. They're not stopping you.

I remember older BlackBerry devices having different video sizes. I think the large capacity of SD cards and faster Internet has reduced the need for the smaller video files. I always have my settings on the best quality setting.

Don't be daft. It should be built into the software to record in lower resolutions! BlackBerry want us to use BBM...... yet we can't send a video via it on their 'premium' device because it can't record a decent length clip without going over the stupidly low size limit.

No other phone I know makes you record in hd only.

Finally, an area where "built for BlackBerry" apps excel, and the demand is it must be native. Yep, I'm daft alright.
