Hey guys.

I got my passport and it's time I give my Q10 to a friend of mine since I got all I need in my Passport.

HOWEVER, I can't figure a way to transfer my text messages from the Q10 to my PP. As I tried to make a custom back up using the BB Link I can see that it'll let me chose between different apps and other stuff on the phone but I coulnd't find messages anywhere ! It'll let me backup the BBM data even but no SMS -so at this point how the heck do I transfer those over because I have some really important ones that I'd like to keep instead of having a friend of mine read all of that :/

Use the device Switch option in Link. That should transfer the messages over for you.

Ok guys but as I start the transfer it gives me the same list of settings I Can chose from...and I can't -I just can't see SMS -is that under Media or is it under Device local settings anc contacts/calendar ? I plan on leaving the contacts/calendar off cuz I don't want contacts to mess up but if that includes SMS then I should leave it on ? What to do pls help

Update your Passport & Q10 to the same os that you prefer& restore from your Link backups...

Unfortunately SMS goes with Settings...

Backup-Pro easiest approach...

In BlackBerry link when you choose the device switch option,a sub menu will come open for you to check mark what you want transferred and essayed is one of the options!

The drop down menu has no SMS -also I tried to just transfer it all and it won't let me -an error message pops up that the Device Switch got cancelled -I think it's cause of the difference in the OS on both devices

Take a snap shot / email them to yourself! Just switch already and enjoy your new passport

Or buy the SMS backup (the one with the red icon) from World. Good thing it works with migrating from android and you are able to export/import csv etc. Hence back up, edit etc.

Yes, I'll second SMS Backup, which is what I've used in the past to save my sms. I've never personally used Backup Pro, but it would probably also be very good; I have the developer's other apps, they are topnotch and he is very helpful and stays on top of issues. Good luck.

I believe the SMS back up works for iPhone too -or at least can create a CSV file....check hte BackUp pro info as well -there must be a way !

That is exactly what we did. Using BlackBerry Link, I went thru the device switch process to transfer everything including all text messages from a Z30 to a Passport. Then I used the Link device switch process again to transfer from my old Z10 to my "new" Z30. In both cases, all the sms messages were transferred.
