I know there are threads stating how bad the passport camera is but I'm sure my photos are down to my using the camera badly.

How do I take a photo with the passport? What settings should be used?

Everytime I try I get a really poor out of focus picture which I end up deleting.

Most of the time I don't even get a green focus box.

I only want to take snaps of my kids and occasionally a close up of some document for reference.

Any tips gratefully appreciated.

There is not a lot one can do wrong, using the camera. What are your present settings?

The BB10 camera app used to suffer from inordinate delays between "pressing the shutter release", and actual capture of the pic, which often resulted in out of focus photos. It is a lot better now, on the latest OS version. I also think there is a little technique involved, in snapping the shot as soon as you get a green box.

Puzzling that you don't get a green box though.

For documents, I use the CamScanner Android app from Intsig, which does the job well for me.

Green box and settings. That's the key.....and patience.
As BBMCruiser stated, the cameraa has gotten better.
Does some have better settings which brings them great photos?
