I have a brand new Passport and was hoping to get some insights on its Wifi speed. I currently have a 200 down/20 up Mbps broadband connection (confirmed through speed tests). Based on speed tests, my iPad Air gets about 70-90 Mbps on my wifi network. But my Passport only gets 25-60 Mbps. I've already tried numerous wifi settings on Passport, and confirmed the network attributes -- strong signal (-35 dBm, max date is 150 Mbps). I've also played with settings on my router (e.g. Greenfield, N only, etc) and confirmed through the Wifi Analyzer app on my Passport that there is no interference as I am the only 5Ghz wifi signal around here, and therefore the wifi connection is running at 40 MHz channel bandwidth.

Any ideas on why I'm getting only 25-60 Mbps on my Passport? Is it a hardware issue?

    Thank you in advance.

Can you switch to the 20Mhz band?

I've actually noticed that my passport is much faster than both my iPhone 5S and ipad 2 in terms of wifi speeds, but my connection only tops out at about 35Mbps.

See if 20Mhz makes a difference.

I think iPhone does have better wifi chips. My Passport tested about 50mbps download and about 8mbps upload and my sister's iPhone 6+ gets about 150+ on the same network. We used the 5ghz band.

Sorry, I just saw you had 150 Mbps on your wifi connection. Are you connecting directly to your provider's modem/router combo? Or you have a separate router? Which brand? When I connect to the Roger's provided router I only max out at 72 Mbps. If I connect to my router then I get 150 Mbps (Netgear N). Who is your service? I'm with Rogers and have a Hybrid Fibre 250. I get 327 Mbps on my PC but it seems the PP may have some limitations under wireless-N due to the card. Looking at the wireless AC standard to see if I would get some gain in performance. I think PP supports wireless AC standard.

Now I'm thinking of getting an AC router. Which brand/model are you using?
