Bought a Passport 3 days ago...I'm getting 10-12 hour battery life with data on...is this normal or should I be getting longer battery life from day 1?

Just depends on how much you are on your device. I take mine off the charger at 7:30 in the morning and usually still have 30-50% by 11 that night.

Mine I take off from the charger at around 7:30am also and is at 10% by 3pm. My data is always on, calls, sms, whatsapp and web browsing is all I do ; should I be getting more battery life or is this normal for the first week?

One thing that can have a huge impact on battery , is the radio/signal strength in the areas where you are. Low signal and perhaps constant drops of 4G/HSPA/LTE on top of that, and you can get the situation you describe.

(Low signal combined with concrete office buildings are typical troublemakers)

If that is the case, set your radio to 2G only (if you can), disable Data, and only use WiFi.

Or get someone to monitor the cell signals in your areas, and inform your carrier about problems- they might be able to adjust, and it will improve your battery

My signal does fluctuate and it might be eating away some of my battery's life, but based from what others are getting out of their passports (1 day heavy use), I'm just wondering why mine does not...or just part of the battery's "adjustment period"?

I work in a weak signal area in a concrete and steel building and keep my phone in the drawer of a steel tool box. This is a battery killer. Putting my phone on airplane mode until I need it is a quick way to conserve the battery and get full LTE quickly when you want it. Turn off notifications for Skype, if you have it, and do a hard reset. The android apps are battery vampires. I was getting lousy battery life, after enjoying GOOD battery life. These two small changes made all the difference.

Next, I will decide if Android apps offer a worthwhile advantage over the mobile website. Examples; Amazon's and eBays mobile site is almost as good and useful as the Android app. Same is true of most national big box stores, Pizza Hut and even PNC's very basic, ugly and very lame mobile site does balance transfers and bill pay fast and reliably. The BlackBerry browser is very fast, so I don't intend to use an android app to do what the browser can do just as well, and in many instances faster.

I think what is happening is that people get the virgin passport loaded with only native apps, then they load up on Android apps. That's what I did and that's when the battery life fell off for me.

Do you have BlackBerry blend on? I noticed that would eat my battery.

Odd, I find that Blend has very little impact on my battery performance, and I generally have it on for around 7 hours a day.

I don't thing the security wipe/reinstall apps work; and this is after a few minutes off the charger with nothing open except for crackberry.

How many accounts do you have setup? What is the PIM percentage at?

One thing I noticed was in one post you said a few minutes off the charger and display was already at 1.5%.

Other thing I would do is check what the battery drain is overnight without charging. I am usually at 1% for 2-3 hours overnight with wifi on.

Mine is 10.3.0.908. Did hard reset a couple of times. Before the security wipe, I was getting 10 hours of moderate to heavy usage.

Its probably the cell reception. Theres nothing really on your device monitor. Also the estimated remaining time shown there is based from the usage at that moment

Try hard reset then put it on flight mode overnight, normal battery will drop about 1-3% for 12 hours. If more then abnormal for new phone

Almost a day, usually had to plug in before the end of the day. Z30 on the other hand completely outlasts me... never needed to plug in before go to bed.

Yeah it doesn't do that if I'm at home and connected to the WiFi. Sometimes I forget to turn it off when I leave and starts to drain.

That's what my brightness looks like... considering 31% of the battery went for display.

Hmm, I think my passport's battery is now stable. An hour ago it was reading 10hrs usage and now it's 2 days usage. I guess I'm gonna find out later if this holds up.

Nope. Updated it to 10.3.0.908 right after unboxing. After that post, I left the phone for a while. When I checked again the monitor indicated 2 days battery life, which was the longest. Before it was just 15hrs. Now it's down to 6 hrs.
