I was in Staples a few days ago standing in line to check out. I was looking through the snack rack and heard someone yell: "Is that a Passport?" I turned around and it was the cashier. When I reached the register he wanted to know if I ordered it and said he heard about it. He then asked to hold it to check out the keyboard. He said he is a "phone guy" and seemed generally excited to see a Passport in person.

I was at MicroCenter to get a Slimport adapter yesterday. The sales associate had no idea what a Slimport was. He called another over. I showed them the phone and where the adapter went. I then showed them on their own website where it said they had 4 in Stock. All while scrolling with the pkb. They are both staring, HARD! " Wow, that's a really cool phone! " this was from salesman B. " So that's a BlackBerry huh?".

"I don't think that word means what you think it means."

I love my passport but lately the double key issue is driving me nuts!!

These came from colleagues and acquaintances. Duh!

But my favourite reaction :

Of the people who have actually said something -- instead of just raising an eyebrow -- "Is that a phone?" is the most common reaction. Two people who actually recognized my SE as such had never seen a physical device, and were delighted, with one remarking that it looks even nicer "in person."

The really great reactions, though, happen when I show people the BlackBerry 10 Hub, with the Peek and Pinch gestures. Recently, the college-age son of a friend of mine asked the "Is that a phone..?" question, but I blew his doors off showing him only those basic OS features.

Passport SE: All the snooty prestige of a device with a precious metal in the name at less than half the price!

When you type and you get words such as helllo, timmme, truee and so forth., I had been one of the fortunate ones that it hadn't happened to but then out of the blue it started and it drives me stark raving mad... Blackberry warranty department is a chore to get to and through to them... Don't get me wrong I love my passport but these issues make it hard for me to enjoy experience and also the accuracy game just isn't up to snuff...

I was out at dinner with family and friends. They haven't seen my BlackBerry Passport before and when I took it out of my pocket, one of my friends went "What the h*ll is that?" and I just said, "how dare you?!"

I'm kind of liking and having fun with the curious looks from people though.

Just yesterday an ardent iphone user was like "this screen and keyboard is awesome!"
*sigh*
Too bad it feels like we've already heard the "don't forget to turn off the lights," from BB.
Although...I wonder if as is posted elsewhere that they run passports with BB10 for corporate/government and like Coke call it Classic BB.

Stopped in to get a late dinner from a local designer taco restaurant. The Manager on Duty sees my phone on the table nestled it's beautiful cognac Stilgut flip case.
" Is that the "special edition" BlackBerry? "She asks.

I nonchalantly said it's not a special edition. I show her the scrolling kb, the flick and realize that I'm not getting back to my delicious food anytime soon. She asked about the "split screen". I show her work wide. I offer to let her hold it. She likes holding it! The weight and quality are apparent. She is wowed. I politely end the conversation and get back to my food.
