My Passport is frozen and I need to hard reboot it somehow. How can this be done?

Here is what happened. The task manager would not update, so I initiated a device restart. It's been stuck on the BlackBerry screen trying to shutdown all night. It had a full battery charge before this so I suspect it will be a long time before the battery dies and forces it to turn off.

So, how can I force it down?

I just tried that and it's booting right now. Thanks! I was not aware of that, and I searched everywhere and did not find the answer. Truly appreciate it.

    No problem.
This is called hard reboot (holding volume up and down for few seconds).
Pull out battery was bbos trick. Do do not need to do this anymore

Only had to use that once or twice. You tend to forget the negative things, but remember how many battery pulls we had to do at the end of bbos?

Thanks from me too for this! At first it didn't work, but then I realized you had to hold them BOTH down (I.e., volume up and volume down) at the same time and for longer than I thought it would take. But it finally did shut down and restart. Thanks again. The CrackBerry forums are the best!
