Hi I have the black passport, and a classic. I prefer the keys on the Classic by a country mile... can anyone tell me if the new silver edition keyboard resembles the classic in terms of how it feels. Softness, clickiness ect?

As sexy as some make it out to be it might just be sticky...depending on how much they love that new PP.

It might not matter what they tell you..

I've had a few black and red Passports and Classics too. And even the keyboards on the same models feel different. My mom has a Classic and it feels totally different than my Classic's.

So someone might have a certain type of keyboard on their silver Passport, and then another silver user might have a different type... and it won't do you much good because you're all talking about different types of feels for the same devices.

Thanks. It's interesting you say that because I said the same thing about a few classic and passport devices and my friends thought I was being ridiculous... Question is why can't Blackberry achieve consistency?

My SE is soft as butter, but my Red one was not, it was hard for me to type with one hand but the SE one hand is so easy. Hope this helps.

That's the million dollar question. I think the only people that understand our plight are other BlackBerry users. Most people don't deal with physical qwerty keyboards so they think we've just got bad OCD or are looking for problems. The Classics I've had either were fine, clicked, had double typing, or were mushy. Same with the Passports. The black one I have now has a B letter that's soft and double types, and loose volume keys. The red one has a perfect keyboard but the Volume down button is like sunk into the phone, it doesn't click when you press it. Both are being warranty replaced.

I guess they need to follow in the foot steps of the Lenovo Thinkpad Line... they consistently deliver perfect keyboards for their laptops. There is no difference between them. That's where Blackberry needs to be...

Funny ... I was just going to mention that even Lenovo sources keyboards from multiple suppliers, and some of the people over at thinkpads.com say that there's a noticeable difference. I've never had two to compare, so I can't say.

I've had multiple of the same X1 carbons as they kept breaking, and I can say that each one had a different feeling keyboard. One was super soft, and the other was not.

So I guess nobody is really perfect.

I've 2 OG PPs one soft and one hard. As stated above the BlackBerry kbs are inconsistent. The SE is noticeably softer that both and I believe I read somewhere that BlackBerry deliberately made them softer. IMO the SE typing experience is better because of it.

Typing this on a SE. MUCH easier to press, feels more accurate, clickier, and less key travel. More responsive overall...the SE absolutely rocks. Have the OG and ATT versions as well. Those are going up for sale.

I agree. I am getting used to how soft and clicky this kb is. Very refreshing. It's almost as though it has a completely new mechanism behind the keys. Joy to type on.

Awww man, now I started to pray for a QWERTZ version of the SE, that keyboard reports really got me interested in the Passport again. For a sidenote: I've had three different Classics and two different Passports (black), the keyboards felt the same on each model. Not saying of course other people are lyers, but it is kind of disappointing to know there seem to be such differences within a single model line.
