I love my passport but I find that my typing slows down when I need to insert a hyphen or brackets and have pull up the punctuation rows. Is there a way to just have the row with the hyphen come up?

Just swipe down on the keyboard keys, then press the physical key that's mapped to the symbol you need (they show up as smaller light grey letters on the top right corner of each symbol).

It's like pressing the alt key and hitting the character key that has the little symbol printed on it.

How do I make hyphen punctuation (-) pop up while typing?-img_20150214_101822.png

I dont have a passport here, but while I get someboddy with one to check, you could try swiping down on the keyboard a few times to see if that activates the row you need.

EDIT: Good job Pak, beat me to it! (At least I was right lol)

Thanks for the great tip. That definitely helps. Until you pointed it out I never noticed the grey letters. Would still love to see a shortcut that just brings up that row with the brackets and hyphen. Developers?

I've only had my Passport for about a month and I'm learning a new trick every day.

    Thanks for the tip.

Is there a way to get that keyboard without having to swipe? I find it faster to hit the @123 button but do not get the secondary keys using that.

No, because when you press the 123 key it brings up the virtual keyboard in letters+special-character mode, in which it allows you to type multiple special characters/numbers and also enter regular letters with the physical keyboard (until you press the spacebar).

When you swipe down, it initially brings up the virtual keyboard in single-character mode, in which if you just press the corresponding physical key it will enter that special character and then close (allowing for single special character within two normal letters, like the hyphen for example).

So it's two different modes for two different uses, the swipe down acting like a single press of the alt key, and the 123 button acting like a press+hold (to lock) of the alt key.

If you just tap the @123 button, you won't get the secondary keys (i.e. keymapping). However, if you press and hold it briefly, the grey letters will appear. It will stay this way and allow you to enter multiple symbols/numbers until you press the button again to release it.
