I can't figure out how to change the settings on my device so that videos--on any site, including facebook--don't start until I start them. This is particularly annoying when reading the news in bed and the vid starts automatically. On previous Blackberries, I was able to start the video only if I wanted to view it. I'm on wifi in the house but traveling, etc.--HUGE data suck. Can anyone help? THANK YOU!

For the browser, it simply comes down to proper web design. Nothing you can do from your end.

For facebook I know for sure the setting is on your facebook settings. Instagram the settings for video are in the app.

I am not aware of any setting in the passport that would disable video per each website.

    Hope that helps,

In PC web browsers you can choose this setting. Questions is does this setting exist in bb browser?

You have desktop or mobile user agent. That's it.

If you see a video loading, hit the circle button between the volume controls and it will stop the video from playing

Thanks for the reply. I do that but it's very inconvenient. It happened when I changed devices. I used to be able to set when videos on news sites would launch. VERY inconvenient when trying to read news stories at 3 AM and not wake hubby!

I have android Firefox, it has an "allow autoplay" option in settings, perhaps you can give it a try.

Hmmmmmm...You are talking to a technology dummy, S1lv1o Are you suggesting that I use Firefox to browse and ??? I have no idea what browser I'm using when I just go the say, CNN news link and open it. If I just want to read the story without the video launching, this is what I haven't figured out how to conquer. Thank you for your input!

With the default browser, there is no such setting to stop the auto play of videos.

I hate it too, but there Is nothing you can do about it.

Thanks for affirming what I had hoped WASN'T. It's a bummer to be reading the news at 3 AM in bed and have the video suddenly start. Not a good thing... I have to remind myself to turn the sound OFF. Otherwise, it's an adrenaline rush. I appreciate your response!
