Keyboard lighting should be automatic, I think.
Is your light sensor working properly? Use the BlackBerry Virtual Expert app to check.

the device its brand new, isnt there an solve in settings,or somewhere to set the tight on keyboard when im typing. Thanks man
It's automatically on and off depending on the ambient brightness! There is no option for it, you can try covering the light sensor (top left sensor) and it should turn on the keyboard light
I concur that you should run the test on it. My ambient light sensor flaked out on me after a couple weeks and my passport had to be replaced. Never hurts to check it.
Mine is really weird. It goes on and off and on and off and so on. It's dark enough for it to be on because I can't see the letters without the backlight. The only way for me to keep it lit up is to cover the sensor for a second.
I have a SE. When using some android apps the keypad backlight goes out and it only comes back on retstart .Yet to find which app causes it as currently it is a too minor irritant to eat my brains.
