Hi, seems that I kept my Passport in my pocket and it generated a password blocking the screen. I have already entered 6 times a password, and have only 4 left before erasing all my date. please help!

So you're telling us that the phone maneuvered itself to Settings>Security and Privacy>Device and Password, typed in a password, re-typed in the password, pressed ok to set it, and then went to sleep--all in your pocket and before you noticed?

Phone's going to get wiped if you can't enter the right password.

You would have had to accidentally gone through several menus and then typed the same password TWICE and clicked OK in order to set a password on your device.

Oh well.... locked is locked, there is not much you'll be able to do with it at this point. Maybe put it back in your pocket with the password screen open and you'll type it again that way.

Sounds like you are trying to "travel" with someone else's Passport. That is a no-no.

Pretty bad that you would steal someones beloved passport but even worse to admit it here in the forums! Put it back!

If it really is your device, and you've entered your password 6 times, at a certain point, it stops asking for your password, and asks for you to type in "blackberry". Read the screen carefully, it looks exactly like the screen that asks you for your password, but it's actually asking you to type in "blackberry". This is a security feature, however I wish they made the screen look different. I almost security wiped my device once, by doing this, I kept typing in my password and not reading the instructions.

Type 'blackberry' as your temporary password.

It will ask you again for 'device' password.

My father did this and was on his 8th attempt. I believe after 5 tries you have to enter blackberry. He missed this and came running to me for help thinking his device would be wiped.

Thinking about it, I need to do a backup for him soon! He has a ton of work info that needs to be backed up. Anyway, I ended up typing in blackberry then his password and I was in to his relief.

You can get in by keeping it charged and on so that the original owner can locate the device so they can come by and pick it up. They'll unlock it after.

You all have it wrong. The phone is not stolen. They want to save the data. If this was a hot phone it wouldn't bother the thief to wipe it.

Now what is really going on is that the phone belongs to the persons boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife. One that that is trying to get in and see what messages or pictures are on the phone. Then, they can confirm and confront.

It was elementary my dear Watson's.
