Anyone know if there is a way to automatically turn on the beside mode so it comes on each night, say between 10pm and 7am?

Not natively but third party apps advertise the feature. See Powertools, Hub++, Profile Changer Pro. Search BlackBerry World.

I recall my Torch going in to BSM once I dropped it into the bedside cradle...awesome feature.

Is there a way I can do this with my PP and the OEM cradle?

You can trigger meeting mode (silent) if you set a bedtime 'meeting' in your calendar app. It will automatically silence at a set time then Unfortunately, there is no auto bedside mode yet; maybe 10.3.2?

The thing about "Meeting Mode" is that you have to carefully manage the status of EVERY entry into the calender. Knowing that they all default to "Busy" you have to ensure you place the "free" tag on any entries where you don't want the silence which includes the "all day" ones.

I stopped using Meeting mode for this reason, too much effort to manage, just easier to go silent when actually needed.

Also BSM is not only about the notifications...it also about the awesome clock face that stays on when charging on the cradle.

That great clock is my favorite feature of BSM, however, with my Q10 the back light dims way down so only the clock face glows. With Passport the back light is too bright. Anybody know of a way to make it dim down?

What if you did it the NFC way? Have a tag by your bed that will turn the phone to night-time mode? Can the PP do this?

This is the one reason why I may buy some tags...
