Complete new with blackberry, and just got one lately. How ever the battery is draining much faster than I expected.

After some work around I managed to install google play store and google maps (with Google id logged in). Now google maps keep pop up notification that it need google play services to run (although the app work fine)

I don't now weather it's what drained power.

I have no problems going 24 hours with moderate usage. Best battery so far and was the same with my OG passport. I didn't install google maps or for that matter many android apps so maybe that's an issue but others can weigh in.

I also expected better battery, until 2 days ago...
I used a samsung and after 6h i was out of juice without mobile network!!

So from now on i know i am a really heavy user and 16h is the max that i can expect.
Using that other device showed me how good the passport battery is

The year is not 1995. This type of charge is not required ever.

I take mine off the charger at 4am and typically go to bed at 9pm with 10 to 20 percent left. First few days chews battery because you are using more than normal. My day consists of 50+ phone calls, tons of texts and BBM and 3 email accounts that put out 50 to 75 emails total. Web browsing in the morning and night.

I keep my screen brightness at 75 to 80.

Unfortunately bb10 latest os is using too much battery in standby, my OG would drain even when i wasnt using it, right out of the box, no apps installed. I downgrade it to an earlier version an battery is much better now. Went from 10.3.2.2226 to .680

Hi DC, I did the same thing as you. Just need to install one more setting apps from cob to turn off the notification from the hub on the Google map.

Even if the passport came with no OS, and i had to stare at a blank screen all day, I'd keep this phone just for the battery life alone. Consistent 24 hrs use with 2-2.5% discharge per hour compared to my previous S6 edge which was 10% per hour and 6 hrs of usage. Forget that! Done with samsung for good. Never again. My iPhone 6 had relatively better battery life compared to my S6 edge, but no where close to the passport. Passport FTW!

I had significant battery drain with no "real" apps running, a clear sawtooth pattern of fast charge / faster-than-acceptable discharge. Ensuring that "Settings" was closed immediately broke this pattern

As I've described it in other forum thread - it is frustratingly bad:
I have been using BlackBerry Passport Silver edition for just a week running 10.3.1 and few days ago upgraded to 10.3.2. The phone continues to heat up and demonstrate bad battery performance. I hate to say but my Galaxy s6 and iPhone 5s last much longer with a way heavier usage.

I did both soft and hard resets (wipe outs), which is quite time-consuming, to no avail. I was trying to convince myself that the phone is new and thus battery needs some exercise, but this morning this was it - a burning indignation.

I had BlackBerry Passport on a wall charge yesterday until it reached 100% at 8pm and I disconnected it. By the time I went off to bed at 8:30pm it had 95% with the phone being in airplane mode completely idle with just Settings, Text Messages and Contacts windows opened in the background (minimised). When I checked my phone at 8:30am this morning it had only 22% battery power remaining, saying it can run for 21 hours more. I took this one as a bad ‘good morning joke’.

Battery usage statistics informed that 44% of battery was consumed by Settings, 19% by System, 9% by Standby, 3% by Display, and the remaining 3% were used by Skype, Android player I have never run yet (!), phone, etc. In total 78% in 12 hours while being in airplane mode!?!?

I meant to use BB Passport as my backup phone, I do not run any apps apart from Text Messages, Phone, Calendar, and Blackberry Blend, no wireless syncing, nothing!

I am now 24 hours with my Passport SE. The battery life is normal. It came with 2339 OS. I upgraded to 2639. I have three Passports. All have normal battery life.

I am a heavy user so my SE lasts roughly a full day which is IMPRESSIVE given how much media I consume everyday (a fk ton).

I have no heat issues. Has to be a bad device. Something is wrong to drain the battery that quick.
