I was planning to buy a Passport, but reconsidered once I saw the battery was not replaceable ... who wants that ???
Non-replaceable batteries are a major deal breaker for me (and many others I suspect).
Swapping a battery takes a few minutes, charging a phone means you cannot working properly ... not an acceptable solutions for a work phone that you depend upon ...

If you carry a spare battery around, you might just use a charge pack.

I use it a lot so my battery is ridiculous when it comes to drainage. I wake up at 5 and drive two and a half hours to school with BlackBerry maps on nav and music playing via bluetooth. I usually don't plug the thing on the charger. I'm always reading on it emailing and messaging a lot. ( been in a big transition in my life so I'm moving around alot). This thing has saved my life because it's battery lasted so long. I mean me being lost and having to go back home. The phone lasts me all day but lately I think it's struggling to stay within the day. Because I'm literally on it all the time. It's standby time is amazing though. I do notice if your device is completely encrypted including memory card that it lowers your battery. I love this phone and the battery I wish I never have to charge it though. But again lately I've been running to the charger a bit too much. So I'm going to do a reset soon.

I agree with him if you used a charge pack vs replacing the battery you would want the replacement battery Instead. It's much faster no cables and done...

I used the GSAM app to test the screen on times myself. Per GSAM app, I was averaging about 6.0 hours of screen ON time over 12 hours of phone running with LTE on. 25 hours claim by BB is misleading if screen on-time is not mentioned. What I like is the standby battery drain is good.

I made sure that none of my android apps will run when minimized. I have no BB runing apps either except for Weather.

Because it's too vague to say what is 'heavy use' I characterize power consumption in a hopefully more systematic way.

Power consumption in various use cases

1% per hour in Standby (few calls, few SMS messages).
6% per hour listening to Internet radio stations via a native BB10 app.
10% per hour surfing the Web, emailing, reading news, posting.
15% per hour playing the 2D space combat game 'Alpha Zero'.
20% per hour watching on Internet TV stations via an Android app.

    Measurement conditions

Device: My Passport SE, two months since I've bought it.
    Micro SD card: none.
    Wifi: on.
    Bluetooth, LTE, 3G/4G: off.
    Location: off.
    Advanced Interaction: off.
    Swipe to unlock: off.
Communication apps running on background: Skype, Viber.
Email accounts with Push mail turned on: 1.
Email accounts with Push mail turned off: 3.
    Display brightness: 50%.

    Edit: more use cases added.

The battery life is incredibly good on my Passport and better than any other phone I have owned (BlackBerry, various Android-based phones) or worked on (iPhone's, various Android-based phones).

Good thing I have external battery packs.
My phone has been lasting only around 8-10 hours under heavy use which is not good enough for me as I have been on the road and need 12 hours use out of the phone as bare basic.

BS. Carrying a charge pack and cable or replacing a battery do not give me the consumer the same level of service.
What is easier: swapping out a battery or making sure you have a charge pack connected and then follow up when your battery is full ... ridiculous this would even be brought up as a solution: like saying you do not need a gas station in a 1000 km radius, just carry a jerry can ...

May I remind you that I am still the CUSTOMER, some seem to have forgotten this !

I recently got a new PP.
I have been getting very average battery life.
Its stunning because the internet is filled with "amazing battery life" posts but not with me.
Is there something I need to do or just let the phone be and wait 2-3 weeks for the "awesome battery life"?

When you first buy it and set it up it spends a few days bedding in and doing a number of tasks that use up the battery. Most people jump to the conclusion the battery life isn't good. BUT then they realise after a week or two the battery is very good compared to other manufacturer's devices.

I'd wait a couple weeks before saying it's average. Needs time to 'break in'.

A couple things (stop me if you know this...)

Android apps will drain you're battery disproportionately. Only install 'absolute must-haves.

Bluetooth kills battery. Turn it off.

Camera usage kills battery. Factor this in.

Having a weak WiFi signal kills battery. Keep this in mind.

Facebook10 will (may) cause your Hub to continually refresh, killing battery. FYI.

Streaming porn all day and night kills battery (buy an external battery pack) .

    Cheers!

Keep in mind that the battery is new and has not reached its full potential, it only happens after a week or two, also new phone new toy you probably use it too much without realizing. But the battery life is awesome and it got better after the latest software update. You should be able to get a full day on moderate to heavy usage a day and a half on moderate, I usually get to the end of the day with 30-40% spare...

Got my passport a week and a half ago, was worried about it being average but over time it got a lot better. At first it can get warm due to the multiple processes running in the background, once that is done you should expect great battery life either on standby or with heavy usage.

I just got my Passport SE a week ago, to be honest the battery life is still worse than Lumia from microsoft that I have, but sooo much better than android, average lasting in 12-16 hours, but as it is mention with guy above that it is the new toy and the usage is bit high I think it is normal, and it just a week, will see in next two week, so far I love this phone battery performances
