It is a beautiful device, but $599 is too much for me. I will wait for the price to come down.

The online stores can do whatever they want, now i can order it from BB UK & have it delivered to my country of residence. Praise BB.

499$ is the perfect price for this.

699$ should be a premium package.

Read some recent reviews from non blackberry reviewes away from crackberry. . Just google "blackberry passport review". The consensus is. Too big. Too square. Keyboard is not the usual BlackBerry keyboard. Os seems to be a blend of android and os from older versions of blackberry. No apps which most users actually use. Too expensive. And I am a blackberry user from past 10 years and would like for it to succeed. Oh well.

You sir have read the reviews of the people who are apple fanboi's or android lovers, which I don't hold anything against, but the people who just tried the device for a day maybe tops and then wrote the review. As everyone has stated, you have to give the phone at least a week, and if you still don't like it and somehow don't find it more productive, then so be it, but sofar that's no one. Even people who don't like it admit it's a great phone, just not one for them!

    Just saying \ :| /

I think $599 is perfect. On the other hand $699 (which is what they are charging here in Canada), is too high.

With the current exchange rate against the us dollar.. using software conversions 599 usd is about 670 Canadian dollars.. and if you are going to a money changer to change your Canadian dollars to American it should be around 680-685.. so it's just 10-15 bucks more expensive..

Although the tax is insanely expensive.. If im a Canadian I would most probably fly to America for an early Christmas holiday and buy the phone and come back

I don't get it when people say the Passport is at the same price as all the other phones out there. Last I remember, both Samsung and definitely Apple flagship phones were priced well over $600 USA at launch. And older iPhones are still more than $600 or nearly so. I don't know how much a Galaxy will cost now but I can't imagine it being less that $500. So the Passport is actually cheaper, not the same.

Regardless of how bad the perceived image of BlackBerry is now, they can't sell it too cheap or they'll be stuck branding themselves as a low end phone like Nexus or LG, which they are not. And once you're stuck with the "cheaper guy" image, it'll be hard to get back the "luxury brand" image.

It doesn't really matter to me that when you convert from USD to CAD the price is almost the same. What I meant is that at $599 CAD I would purchase it. At $699 it's just too much IMO.

Btw flying to the U.S. just to get the phone would end up being just as expensive as buying the phone here (if not more expensive).

For the specs we've see on this thing, i would say it is priced right.

Where is the HDMI output port? Where is the port for a docking station? Can it provide a conventional-style desktop when connected to a monitor assuming it can be so connected? The BlackBerry Passport is priced at CAD700.00 (Telus) and CAD750.00 (Bell Mobility); presumably Rogers Wireless will price it similarly. A modest 25% profit margin on the hardware for BlackBerry would have been sufficient. They cannot recoup seven quarters of losses by pricing a device in the stratosphere relative to its market share.
