    Hi all,

Just got my Passport and came across a problem with the newly purchased Toshiba 64GB UHS-I microsd card.

High speed microsdxc card can't record 1080p video-img_20141005_083631.jpg

The card is rated UHS class 3.

However, when I try to record 1080p video on the Passport, it saymy my media card can't record 1080p video, and ask me to save the video in device storage or upgrade my card to class 4 or above (probably refers to theusual speed class).

    Any idea what's going on?

Yes, you do need a class 4 or above. Generally, people are finding the best results with a class 10 card like the SanDisk Ultra micro SD cards.

Thanks for the info! Do you or anyone else know what's the difference between a microsdxc card of UHS class 3 and a microsd card of class 3 speed. I assumed that they are not the same!

Actually from reading the SD Card specifications, they aren't the same:

    https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/speed/

Speed Class, designated as Class 2, 4, 6 and 10, is designed for normal and high speed bus interface (mode) and UHS Speed Classes 1 and 3 are designed for UHS bus interface*. (Speed Class and the UHS Speed Class are not compatible.)

    Also from here:
Difference between Speed Class, UHS Speed Class, and Speed Ratings (performance) for SD/SDHC/SDXC cards

"If you use a UHS memory card in a non-UHS host, it will default to the standard data bus and use the "Speed Class" rating instead of the "UHS Speed Class" rating. "

I am not sure if the Passport has a UHS host. That is perhaps why you are having issues. It will just use the Speed Class which for your media is 3.

    Thanks for your info!

Not sure where or who I could confirm on this issue, and if it's due to software problem which can be solved by OS update, then I'll wait for that. Otherwise, I'll need to change to another class 10 card.

Fyi, I bought this card from a local shop in Hong Kong, not too sure if Amazon carries this card on their website.

I don't have the passport and I don't have the 128 GB microSD card but I can confidently say that they work perfectly together.
