My phone 'sticks' to the holder. Works with magnets. If you use passport without the case, it sticks to the bbry logo as it is metal I assume. If you use some kind of a case, in the package, you get a super thin piece of metal with 3m tape. You can stick it to the back of the case on the inside, and works like a charm.
I have a stillgut case, and OEM skin and it works really well on both.
