I have experienced the exact same thing. The beauty of mine was that it was a 2 month old Samsung, and I never bought another one!

Things like this are reasons why BlackBerry should adopt waterproofing.
It's one of the reasons i'm considering a Sony phone.

You should of backed up your passport and kept a current backup file ( while your device is still functioning of course) Then all you had to do is get a new passport and restore the new device using your backup file.

Did you try the rice trick? May work if it didn't short out. Short instructions: remove battery, immerse in 99% isopropyl alchohol for a few hours, drip dry, immerse in dry (uncooked) rice for a day, reassemble. I would clean the battery case with the alcohol and immerse it in the rice separately.

You do know that Veronica had a twin sister.... and that if you treated Veronica properly you can just use LINK to make the "switch" and you'll never know the difference.

One great feature of iCloud is not having to use a computer or your memory to do a backup.... REALLY don't understand why they don't make this part of BB Protect.
Actually Veronica could be cloned and no one could tell the difference unless you took a look at her serial number.

Underwater for 30 min. I'd think its fried no matter what.
And how are we supposed to take a battery out of a Passport easily?

Does soaking in alcohol help without agitation? I always thought you need some to make a real difference, like a brush.

My solution to protect my Passport from such accidents is, it's not pretty but when I have my passport with me when I am at the beach, pool, or fishing I put my Passport in a zip lock bag. Again this isn't pretty but it is very effective when I am by water. The best part you can even make calls and text with the Passport inside the Zip lock bag. I have had my Passport in the Zip lock bag, in my pocket, and was dumped in a pool and no issues. Zip Lock bag works great; my wife even does this now when at the beach with her Z30.

Do not try to turn it on and do NOT plug it in. That might short some things. Submerge the Passport in a bowl of dry white rice for two or three days. Then, when it is completely dry, you can plug it in.

My girlfriend put her Passport through the washing machine and the steps above recovered it. My guess is you've got a 20% chance of success.

Thanks for inspiring me to backup my passport immediately! That's if link decides to work, it has its own mind on Mac....... Sorry for your loss, I know what you mean really, getting a new phone is like moving offices using a moving company, it takes a while to know where everything is once again...
