BlackBerry OS door closing soon .... Hahaha.
Sorry but while they might not have been terrible, they weren't what consumers wanted. And most of that was due to the OS (BBOS), but some too due to BlackBerry lagging hardware development.... many times the hardware couldn't keep up with the software requirements.
By 2010 there was a clear "gap", by 2013 it was a Canyon.... as sales showed this.
BB10 wasn't outdated... but for most consumers it was useless. They wanted apps, I remember that Spring that the lack of Candy Crush and Instagram was a pretty big "negative". Things improved later with Sideloading and then with direct APK capabilities... but that was too late to save BB10.
BlackBerry had one shot to win back the market with BB10.... they failed in just about every way possible. Once Thor put up that For Sale sign... it was done.
BB10 just struggled to be accepted by the masses and in the end BlackBerry needed to become profitable. It's sad to see BB10 end like this but in reality it was sucking millions from BlackBerry and they only got like a third of it back in profit NOT ENOUGH. it was either build an android phone or give up on phone entirely. In my opinion I'm glad they chose to go android it's good for the phone and it's good for users who want more apps. Sure it's not as good at functionality like BlackBerry 10 was but it was still better than nothing and it seems to be going well for them.
If Blackberry never officially announced it has *ended* then it hasn't ended... they're just a bit lazy on the updates...
Nothing has ended until you hear it from the horses mouth.
So i ask Crackberry staff n co... has Blackberry announce it at all?...
Lots of things come to the end without being officially announced.
What is in it for BlackBerry to make such an announcement anyway? They are already out of the device business.
You do have a point there, but still looking at buying z10 to add to my collection of bb10 phones :)
The party has been over for years now. Late comers!
It's dead since 2014/15.
I have an iPad and a MacBook, but my phone is "the" Passport.
And Google famously abandons and shuts down Web Apps and services any time they don't become a runaway hit.

But yet they still sell the Passport & Classic from the official site right?
So you're saying they're selling a brand new device with a unsupported/dead OS ? lol...
Ummm... BlackBerry doesn't sell it. If you click/tap on "Buy Today," you'll be redirected to third party resellers.
Must of updated then.
Are you new on CB?
@#¿*Berry
I only see the Passport and Leap.
But, as already mentioned, the links take you to Amazon's third party retailer network for unlocked, no contract phones.
And that will only be until the stock runs out.
There are many old products for sale on Amazon. If they're sold as new then the SELLER is responsible for making sure that the warranty will still be honored.
It is the sellers' job to confirm that the manufacturer will still honor the warranty on discontinued products. If the seller can't confirm that, the product cannot be listed as new and should be listed as "used."
However, by providing links to Amazon, BlackBerry is implying that warranties will still be valid for those listings, if the phone's are being sold as "new."
But even a phone sold as new, with a warranty, does not necessarily include any additional patching or software upgrades. The End User License Agreement ("EULA") that a user signs when setting up the phone clearly states that "BlackBerry may change or cancel the availability of any Software or services at any time with or without notice."
All companies say something similar, but that doesn't mean the user should take it lightly. The large companies that plan on selling more devices are unlikely to suddenly pull the plug on their software support, because it would have a negative impact on future revenues, but, if BlackBerry Mobile decides to stop selling BlackBerry -branded phones and ceases ton pay BlackBerry for new software development and patching, I wouldn't expect BlackBerry to continue working for free.

just ordered myself a z30 to go back to a dying system, lol so much better than android and ios :)
I find it funny that a dying system still seems to be more stable then android and apple.

100% Agree. I BOUGHT a KEYone, and still grab my Z10 on my way out the door each day. Android just feels so messy and noisy compared to BB10.
I am committed to giving the KEYone and Android a fair try for 60 days, but I keep finding excuses not to get started, excuses like, "I'd rather make money today than play with Android!"

BlackBerry has had a long history of turning their backs on their customers, aka, us. I am not spending any of my money on any of their products. I still own four Passports for me and my family. But that is all.

Chen's first priority is BLACKBERRY THE COMPANY, not BB10, which is only one of several products.
He was brought on board to SAVE a corporation that was losing money badly.
He has done that - BB is now a software company and has gotten out of the phone handset business and BB10 - items that were KILLING the company financially.
Haha if you want support, go to iOS. Otherwise you’ll be pretty disappointed.
You’ll be lucky on most devices to get one major update. Typically when you buy something, there is no guarantee that you’ll get updates.
101% agree.. my Keyone is on my dresser whilst I am on my verandah during this unusual September Ontario heatwave with my little BlackBerry Q5.

It's not more stable, it has functionality that seems to better fit some peoples workflows, but mostly it fills a small niche for people that can't accept change or a niche of the ultra paranoid, that seem to think BB10 can somehow protect them from the Illuminati and Google.
