Michael Clewley posted a similar image on his channel this morning.

Pretty cool, I really hope it works against the childish (not necessarily in a bad way), innocent, all white background, Apple propaganda. Or at least provides a contrasting tone to the types of products and the types if people they are dealing with.

Will keep an eye on those freebies like "Metro", to see how soon they start buying space within them.

Love the style of the ad.. it is exactly what they need to do... in some way it follow the message inside this old campaign that in my opinion is one of the most well done ad for BlackBerry

Focus on the strengths of the brands and on their history. And who does not love the "comeback story??l

I am glad they are putting out ads.. and with the right timing. It means they think they are ready to start again the battle..

Now price the passport competitively and start gain new customers! I am going to enjoy this ride this time

My fear is that if people do get enticed to buy a BlackBerry that once they realize the shortage of top quality aps that it may be a short lived love affair.
That is BlackBerry biggest downfall right now.
I don't know if the Amazon's ap store is going to be able to provide quality trouble free aps that actually work smoothly on our beloved BlackBerry!

    What's a newspaper?

Seriously though, you realize that the majority of people, here especially, would have never have heard about this ad if it didn't get spread through the forums.
Sure a newspaper is a place to advertise, but it's not the most effective.

I dunno, I see the Globe being read every morning on the train by the kind of people the Passport is intended for. And it's not the only place. Saw an animated banner on this very site with the same theme and message about five minutes ago. So I suspect it's not limited to one ad, in one paper. ;-)

It won't. The apps are out of date often, many are missing, and some don't work. Also, BlackBerry does not stop you from buying or otherwise downloading an incompatible app, so that will further exacerbate the users. The current setup also requires the user to have two IDs, a BlackBerry ID and an Amazon ID. The two are not integrated and you don't get to see when your possible investment in BlackBerry World is overlapping with the investment in the Amazon App Store, and vice versa. The Amazon App store is itself unstable on a BlackBerry, and crashes every so often.

The situation may improve over the next couple of years, since BlackBerry is throwing it's weight behind the Amazon brand as well, but the problem with BlackBerry right now is that they have a fragmented user base, still largely split between (large majority) BBOS users and (relatively few) BB10 users. Nobody on BBOS can even use the Amazon App Store.

I couldn't agree more. I am only hoping with 10.3 that it addresses the amazon ap problem of incompatible aps for BlackBerry.
