I had a demo from Blackberry of the Passport today and managed to get five minutes with it. It's really quite nice, a good weight in the hand and the screen is great. The size was ok too, it feels like a real email machine and of course the browser is really quick. Whilst I wouldn't want it as my main device, that'd still be the Z30, I'd really like it as a secondary Wi-Fi only option.

We saw Blend too and that really is awesome, can't wait for that.

    Thought I'd share

Given the brightness and quality I'd say it was AMOLED, but not 100% sure.

It felt really solid and I think the silver edging was metal, again 100% sure though as I didn't have long with it.

The keyboard felt good. The keys seemed bigger than I thought it would, when typing an email the bottom layer of the screen popped up virtual keys and it looked slick. When put sideways the keyboard acted as a touch pad, really cool for browsing.

AMOLED is the way to be, that way when the black lines are there for movies and whatnot, it doesnt bother you at night

Can you tell us more about blend? Any clue as to whether it will be enterprise only or a consumer option as well? Were you able to watch any video on the passport?

D_March... Blend will be workspace (e.g. Enterprise) only... its really cool though, they suggested it might be a separate CAL so that's a little worrying. I got shown access to work drives through it and the secure browser will be included with the full release, not ready yet though. Definitely a USP for BB, I can think of tons of uses for my organisation.

Moegh, no idea about front cam sorry.

Saber, I reckon it was pretty thin, certainly no bigger then the Z30.

Kwms/AP, yeah for me its a little big for use as a phone and carrying around.. personal preference though I guess.. seemed like a little tablet really.

It's IPS LCD because AMOLED is Samsung Failware.

Does it feel faster than Z30? Was the screen much better in terms of resolution and brightness?

    Awesome 0rin0k0,

Hope these 2 new BB's bring back some market share for BlackBerry

The Passport is very unique, can see it being a big seller if the quality is good

    Thanks for the info,

    Cheers

Thanks for the information on the passport. I can't wait, as i have said in a few of my post, I am buying one on launch day as long as its a GSM version.

The bad part here in the USA is that Verizon will probably get the exclusive on it. I will just have to buy an unlocked or Canadian version, no big deal.

I'm not sure if I'll be getting one yet but if I do I'm in the same boat on TMO. I'm hoping BlackBerry sells it off their site. Otherwise it's amazon.

I am hoping it is a different cal. I agree costs more but as a shareholder how much can they give away free?

The silver and gold license are pretty cheap for what you get and they do have to differentiate themselves from the me too crowd.

    BTW thanks for sharing.

A lot of consumers are going to be surprised and unhappy. They are expecting too much.

The consumers will want it free and they cannot afford that. Who pays for all the engineering?

I thought AMOLED is used on the Q10 to save battery. It isn't exclusive to Samsung devices, is it? Maybe they make the panel but even Apple has a lot of Samsung components, correct? That could mean stellar battery life on the Passport.
