I just ordered a new passport from amazon. Now I am scared the transition from my Z30 will be rocky. I have read in the forums that the passport doesn't run smooth on the OS 10.3 and doesn't have any keyboard shortcuts. Should I cancel my order and wait for 10.3.1 to be released before buying...any passport user here to give advice?

Keep the order.
Let the phone arrive.
Open it and take in all it's beauty.

Turn phone on and follow directions. get the BlackBerry update they offer over wifi.
Then use the BlackBerry link to set up your new phone.
Then just migrate all you have on the Z30 to the Passport.
Final step....enjoy!!!

Don't get into all the leaks stuff ( I don't from a practical point)
Start using the new phone, and enjoy it.
There is a 'Hidden features" thread http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe.../#post11051617 It is very helpful among all the other threads.
But, get your hands on it and start using it.

What??? Check out the Passport's specs. Runs smoother than the Z30. And as far as shortcuts, it has far, far more than the Z30 with the physical keyboard. It also has the swipe gestures that you get on a virtual keyboard, such as swipe to delete and flick words up, due to the touch enabled keyboard.

I just made the transition from the Z10 (Z30 mini) to the Passport. It has gone very smoothly and wasn't rocky in any fashion. I disagree about the "not running smoothly" claims. As in most cases, I suspect operator error.

You don't need a blitz loader as the phones brand new. Just get an autoloader of 10.3.1 and load it on the passport then device switch from link.

I wouldn't even bother loading 10.3.1 on the Passport at the moment. I still notice a few graphics glitches here and there. Just stick with the latest 10.3.0 and enjoy the device. By the time you get used to it, 10.3.1 will probably be officially arriving.

As for the keyboard, just allow yourself at least two weeks of a learning period. Don't get frustrated, it is different and it does require some re-learning! Once you get it, it is very satisfying and totally worth it.

It is non destructive, same as OTA update so no, you do not lose any data or settings.

I believe that it does contain custom LED options.

My passport has been running ultra smooth since the day I got it and yes, there are keyboard shortcuts. The PASSPORT by far is the fastest BlackBerry device compared to other models and the battery life is a beast!

I have both and use both. Looking forward to putting 10.3.1 on both of them, but my passport works perfectly fine. There are some things I like on my Z30, but I have a data only SIM in it and continue to use it too. But I do use my PP almost exclusively for email, text, BBM and websites other than video. But I watch Netflix on my PP (and Z10 which has 10.3.0). Once I get 10.3.1 on my Z30, I will probably use it more for Netflix. I also use the Z30 for Remote Desktop but I hope my RDP apps get updated soon to support screen resolution more reliably. All in all I am very happy having both, but use the PP 90% or more.
