You know they did have a manufacturing facility in Waterloo. Not sure if it still exists but back in the day prototypes, beta testing units etc were all manufactured in Canada.

Check the customs docs. They declare the actual cost of the device in parts

Great looking device. I think they should have made about 500 of these and they would have sold

What does the back of the Gold Passport look like? Is the C-clip and BlackBerry logo in gold too?

    Edit:

Just looked at the eBay listing posted above and the C-clip and logo are gold.

Why do you want to see that? Just watch the regular ones and imagine the gold.

I doubt that it's actually made in Canada. Likely just laser engraved (and perhaps colored) in Canada. Why would they replicate their entire Mexican fabrication environment in Canada just to make 50 devices?

My Torch (one of the early ones) was made in Canada. Might be the last production model that was (partially) made in Canada?

The best part about the gold edition is the "Limited Edition x/50" engraving. It looks very elegant and high end. Too bad they didn't do the same with the red, even if it was 1000.

I love the look of this. I wouldn't care about the exclusivity of it. Isn't it being a BlackBerry, let alone a Passport exclusive enough? I'd like to have a Verizon version of this. Or my work could allow me to be the only person with an AT&T contract, but I don't think that's going to happen. I already did ask.
